On the Hot Seat [13+] From Shadow Prowler's newsfeed contest, 2/26/23...with some expanded answers. |
HAPPY WDC ACCOUNT ANNIVERSARY FROM "Anniversary Reviews" Hello, Norb, aka FiveSixer! INITIAL IMPRESSION / OVERVIEW: Wow! Your sense of humor shines throughout this whole piece. Your writing (and others' questions) kept me riveted and I read straight through to the end. MORE DETAILED FEEDBACK: Happy Writing.Com Anniversary day and month! I wanted to read this when it originally was on the newsfeed, but for some reason I was unable. Or I did read it and totally forgot... though that's less likely. What's most likely is I scanned it quickly and meant to come back for a thorough read but ... life. You know. You are definitely interesting and I wanted to learn more about you then and now. I hope you enjoy this review as a celebration of your time here and find the review uplifting. You have a fantastic sense of humor and made me smile and even laugh out loud as I read this kind of interview "on the hot seat" piece. I love that WordGeek did this for a while. She hasn't been on in a while, that I've noticed. I hope she comes back! I loved how the whole piece read like a conversation between friends. You kept it real yet made it fun and enjoyable, even when some of the questions asked might have been uncomfortable. I loved that you included lots of emojis, a video and even a cat meme. The cat meme made me chuckle. Granted, I'm a cat lover. I wondered if you had an article here (or anywhere) with tips on formatting for KDP? This wondering was inspired by this part of the post: "Doing most of the work myself as far as editing and formatting was the worst. The best part? When it was all done!" I'm okay editing but the formatting boggles me. Leos are the best. Just sayin'. Fits in with the whole cat lover thing too. Convenient! Lol! "Twitter is my side chick." It's quickly growing on me. I'm surprised. I get on and off Facebook as fast as possible. Thanks for following me back over there! Like you, I have angsty teenage poems and have been writing since I was a kid. Isn't it wonderful! Even when I had other jobs, I still wrote for fun. Are you that way too? Have you been writing professionally since 1993 and not had other jobs? If so, as a young adult, you were far more dedicated to writing being your career! I thought I'd think of something clever by now, but I'm just in awe that you've been a member here for twenty three years! Wow! I think you were a lot more active here when I first joined and you were very welcoming to me, and that is still deeply appreciated. Thank you, Norb! IDEAS TO MAKE YOUR PIECE STRONGER: In the spirit of helpfulness (and because of the rules of a review challenge I'm in), I have a suggestion to make your piece stronger. I'm having to dig deep for this as I really thought your piece was well done as it is. It was funny, fun, and interesting to read. I also think such a historical piece should be left to stand on its own. So if you want to skip this part, no worries at all! The only thing I can think of, and I'm not sure that it's needed, but it would be nice to somehow delineate what was added (not in the original news feed post) after the original event / news feed interview. That might be interesting to people who read the original and actually remember it, and then want to know what's new with a quick glance. This is super nit-picky, and honestly, if it weren't for the Tour de Ports, I wouldn't have mentioned it, but it does require at least one suggestion for improvement, so there you are. CONCLUSION: You have a down-to-earth writing style, great sense of humor, and an interesting life, and I greatly enjoyed reading your "on the hot seat" piece today. Thank you for sharing your time, creativity, humor, experience, and writing with the Writing.Com community! Once again, happy anniversary month! I hope the year ahead is filled with blessings and joy for you! May love, joy and peace be yours in abundance! PWheeler This review is part of my journey to complete "Tour de Ports" .
