My review is based on professional editing points. It is meant to be honest, encouraging, and respectful in accordance with WDC guidelines.
THE POEM
This poem told the story of emotional brotherhood, traditions, and honor through a military vantage point.
WHAT I LIKED
I loved the heartwarming story the poem told. Well done. Very touching.
STRUCTURE
This is a free form poem.
MECHANICS
I did not spot any spelling/punctuation mistakes. Good use of WDC ML to increase the font and make the poem easier to read on WDC.
DESCRIPTIONS
I liked: "playing taps on a tarnished and dented bugle, that had traveled the miles with him." The poet uses a good economy of words to not only paint the scene - a bugler playing taps, but words like "tarnished" and "dented" tap into emotion well. There's raw sentiment for what's occurring that tugs on the heartstrings.
PARTING THOUGHTS/SUGGESTIONS
The opening starts with a heartfelt story that readers want to find out what happens. The title is a nice fit for the poem. I enjoyed the reverence for the military and and how the poet touched on the poignant emotions that hearing taps brings out in one.
