Letter from the editor

Here’s a Horror Story Map idea to help get you started with writing a horror/scary story:

*CarBl* Unravel the terror

Do you have an opening scare that will define the story?

*CarBl* The Entry Point
Who will be involved in these terrifying escapades and what are they dealing with?

*CarBl* Before the terror starts
What does a normal day look like in this world?

*CarBl* The horror begins
What horrific thing sets the characters off on their journey?

*CarBl* An uneasy path
Everyone is together. What keeps them moving forward this way? What do they have to gain by staying together?

*CarBl* Stepping on broken glass
How does the hero deal with problems as they arise?

*CarBl* Dark and shadowy places
Is there a sub-plot? Don't forget to set that story on its way too.

*CarBl* Reassess the terror
You're trapped in the middle. Is there another way to escape alive?

*CarBl* Someone's going to die
Things begin to fall apart. Let the body count rise and show how the characters deal with it.

*CarBl* A hidden clue
What do the characters discover that they didn't notice before?

*CarBl* Race to the end
They're up and running! Can they make it out alive? This is the series of scenes that carries the reader toward your thrilling finale.

*CarBl* Relief
Did they make it out alive? Has life returned to normal? How do they feel now that the journey is over?

*CarBl* Where do we go now
Show the world in a new light - what's next? Maybe the monster/killer returns for one final scare!
