A Two Minute Mystery
Can you solve this mystery in two minutes?
The Case of the Stolen Computer Disk
"You must come to the San Francisco Museum at once! Something has been stolen!" Lillian Potterson said.
"I'll be right over." Dr. Dawson answered.
A few minutes later Dr. Dawson arrived at the Museum to check out the crime scene.
"What has been stolen?" Dr. Dawson asked.
"A very old, ancient Egyptian necklace." Lillian informed him.
“Why would anyone want to steal it?" Dr. Dawson asked.
“It is very valuable," Lillian told him.
"I can see why you want it back so bad," Dr. Dawson said. "Did you have any insurance on it?"
"Of course it did. If the person that stole it sells it, they can get a very handsome price on it."
"Can you tell me what happened?" Dr. Dawson asked.
"Yes, I can. I was working late tonight when I thought I heard something in the next room. I went to go see what it was when suddenly the power went off. I saw a man dressed in black run by me with the necklace in his hand."
"How could you have seen him carrying the necklace if the power went off?" Dr. Dawson asked suspiciously.
“I could see it shimmering in his hand," Lillian explained. "Then he ran into the room over there." Lillian pointed to the room with all the dinosaur exhibitions. "Then he ran out the other door that goes in and out of the room. I had to wait for the power to come back on so I could phone you, but as soon as it did, I called you over here."
“I think you better come to the police station with me," Dr. Dawson said.
“But why? I told you everything I know!" Lillian bellowed angrily.
"So you can tell me where you put the necklace," Dr. Dawson answered.
The answer is below. Don’t Peek!!
How did Dr. Dawson know that Lillian was the culprit?
Dr. Dawson knew that Lillian stole the necklace because she could have phoned him even if the power was off. She wanted to get all the insurance from the ancient Egyptian necklace so she made up the whole story.
