It's WDC's Birthday!

And along with the site birthday celebrations that come along, so do a lot of other fun contests and activities!

When I was new to the site, don't ask how LONG ago that was, *Laugh* I joined in January so I had a little time to get familiar with the regular contests and the community before all the fun came around for the WDC birthday and the holiday celebrations in November and December.

So I'm going to offer a few words of advice. At the beginning of the celebration, spend a day or two checking all the things at Birthday Central that are active. Once you have those all written down, make out a timeline for when things start, how long you'll think they'll take (each day or how much time you need to create an entry), and work out a task schedule. Now I know that doesn't sound like a lot of fun, but it's better than rushing to write an entry or do a project at the last minute.

Of course, give yourself a little flex time for tasks outside WDC. We don't live here...do we? But truly, ask any long-term member in WDC, the secret to enjoying your time on the site is by managing it well. Along with making time for entries in contests and participation in activities, please do take the time to review. Our community thrives on feedback from our peers. If you're not sure what to review, you can find things posted on "The Shameless "Plug" PageOpen in new Window. or by clicking Community in the left column and choosing Please Review. Reviewing is a great way to network with other members and earn gift points at the same time. By clicking Read and Review in that location, you will be offered a substantial amount of gift points to review an item within a certain time frame. What an awesome way to celebrate WDC's birthday! It's a way to fill your gift point coffers, help another member and polish your reviewing style.

Happy birthday WDC! Be sure to click the "Writing.Com Party Central 2024!Open in new Window. link in the left column and join in the fun!

This year is going to be different than I have ever done. When you know there's a birthday or anniversary in September, you can place your name and your friends name here as well, so I can do a virtual draw. There are packages that you can purchase for them and I can send them out to the winners.

In this contest, then, I would like you to dig up those hidden gems. Have a look at them. Rewrite them using all the skills you have acquired since. Or, if you have deleted your old items, or haven't been a member for long enough to have anything blush-worthy in your port, you can use one of the given prompts and write how you used to write before you joined, and how you write now.

I will explain this further through the rules!

This month's question: Do you use the random review features? Send in your answer below! *Down* Editors love feedback!

Question from "Contests & Activities Newsletter (July 6, 2022)Open in new Window.: Do you find it hard to prioritize your time?

GeminiGem🐾 Author Icon: I have been hesitant to do continual running contests (I generally like to open my contests periodically), but when I finally decided to do that I immediately recruited help. I know myself a bit too well and know I will need others to keep things going at some point. Better to have them involved from the start.

TheBusmanPoet Author Icon: At times I do but for the most part I know what needs to be prioritized.

🐺Wolfkingdom🏰 Author Icon: Yes, every day I fight to prioritize my time through the day. But even I realize that somethings must be done first before starting another project.

daninidaho: If I've established a workable routine, all is well.

N.A Miller Author Icon: sometimes... but I manage to make time for what I need to do.

King Author Author Icon: a little Drake Author Icon: Somewhat

Mouse says gobble gobble Author Icon: I have a lot of time in my life that I don't have to be anywhere or do anything; therefor yes, it is hard to prioritize sometimes because when something does come up that has to be done it feels like an interruption to the routine and a chore.

Turkey DrumStik Author Icon: I find prioritizing non-working time to be more difficult than anything else.

elephantsealer Author Icon: Hey, there, when I decide to write, I definitely stick with it, rain or shine or earthquake outbreak ... or whatever else comes in-between...

Happy to write Author Icon: Sometimes yes sometimes no
