I'll Tell You a Secret
Everyone likes to do a good deed once in a while, don't they? How about money...does everyone like money...real money? Or a pile of gift points? A pile big enough to roll around in and toss in the air? Do you love Writing.com?
If you answered yes to all those questions, I'll tell you a secret. You can do that right here on our site. And have fun earning that cash! Oh, don't go doubting me. I know you're looking at your monitor and shaking your head. But you can do this, in a simple way. Just find some interesting stories to read and give them a thorough review. And when submitting that public 250-character count review, click the Good Deeds button at the bottom.
What? You don't believe me? It's true! Check out this link and get the details: "Good Deeds Get CASH!" What a great way to help your community and spread some happy around the site, and put yourself in the running for a chunk of money. On top of that, reviewing can make you a better author and editor of your own work. You get practice spotting not only spelling and grammar issues, but things like passive writing and plot holes.
So Write On and Review On!
This month's question: How has reviewing helped your writing? Send in your answer below! Editors love feedback!

SITE CONTEST:
The task is simple: Write a short story using the image prompt as inspiration!
Excerpt: Each month, I will select an author celebrating their Anniversary as the featured Anniversary member. The intent is to honor a member for their membership, work, and enthusiasm. Some will be active in the forum, some may not.
Excerpt: A good review offers insight into how a piece might be improved (or makes a compelling case that it's complete as is). A great review offers the reader insight on how to be a better writer. I will always strive to fulfill the first condition and the second to whatever extent my insights permit.
Excerpt: Write for me the type of story I love to read--a tale with a plot twist or surprise ending. I'm an expert at figuring out the twist before it happens. See if you can fool me! It's a great way to sharpen your plot development skills and win prizes. All entrants receive 500 GPs just for entering! Gift points will be sent at the end of the round when I review your story. March round is open!
Excerpt: March is Saint Patrick's month and to celebrate this festivity, I especially hosted the Garden of Luck Fundraiser. This is just an ordinary raffle drawing fundraiser but with a twist.
Answer the question of the day and have some fun!
Excerpt: This is a fun, monthly challenge where you set two or more daily habit goals, check in and tell us how you did, and can earn great prizes!
Excerpt: Every couple weeks or so, I'll post a cliche, overused or just plain amusing quote. With each one, I'll leave a spot blank. This is where you put in your own word or phrase to breathe some new life into these sayings.

This month's question: This month's question: How has reviewing helped your writing? Send in your answer below! Editors love feedback!
Last month's "Contests & Activities Newsletter (February 15, 2023)" question: Do you have a favorite contest/activity or two?
Penelope Moonbeam : "The Writer's Cramp" and EXPRESS IT IN EIGHT. I enjoy the contests on WDC.
Beholden : I am addicted to Express It In Eight, Promptly Poetry Challenge, and The Daily Poem (when it's running). I love SCREAMS!!! for its prompts but it's on hiatus at the moment. Same goes for Micro-Fiction Challenge and I miss it so badly while Lilli's away doing the Quills thing that I've started writing 100-word flash fiction off my own prompts. Plus I answer Question of the Day every day. I enter other contests too but much more sporadically.
s : My favourite activity is "Question of the Day!" I don't do many contests, so my favourite is probably "Horror Writing Contest"
Massive Friendly Derg : I try to create my own from time to time, but no one ever enters...
D. Reed Whittaker : It's contests for me. Occasionally, the question of the day.
N.A Miller : because of the ridiculous parameters and the prompt writings... I stay clear of contests...
A lot of them have too many limitations on creativity.
oldgreywolf on wheels : I generally toss a few copper-colored zinc discs to the Question of the Day.
I entered a few contests; however, whatever/whenever I need to write is more important for my therapy than being told what and how to write, so I now ignore them. (INTPs don't play well with others.)
joemjackson : Web-browsing. Be honest people.
THANKFUL SONALI Library Class! So many!
I like reviewing with "WdC SuperPower Reviewers Group"
I enjoy entering "The Writer's Cramp"
I have fun visiting "Three Word Mayhem!"
Turkey DrumStik : I must admit adding comments on any blog/journal entry that tackles the news is one of my favorite activities. After all, media analysis is my passion.
