About This Newsletter

Is it just a build-up of grease? Can it be that we are being duped into blindly trusting those products we've loved for decades? It all occurred to me while washing dishes --by hand.

Letter from the editor

It dawned on me the other day while washing some greasy pots, pans, and dishes following a family get together. I grabbed for my Dawn dish detergent and filled up the dishpan with hot sudsy liquid and placed some dishes inside. I expected that powerful detergent that can wash oil slicks from a water bird's feathers to remove grease from the plates. Strange enough, I had to empty the water, refill with more Dawn. Still the grease fighting power wasn't as strong as it used to be. Also, the blue color seemed lighter than it used to be. *Thought2*

I proceeded to check the label of the detergent container. It showed a couple ducklings. You know, little water fowl that have the ability of letting water roll off their backs. They are of course filled with grease helping them float, I guess. Grease does rise to the top. Thus, just this picture made me think. Does Dawn let the water roll off my greasy pots in the same way? How would that help cut grease and make my dishes squeaky clean?

I read more of the label. It's Dawn "Ultra." That's a cool word, right? "Ultra." I guess it's there to impress us, make us think it works harder.

Moving along, it states:
50% less scrubbing
3x MORE grease cleaning power vs Non Ultra Dawn

Okay, I decided to interpret those claims according to my experience with using this detergent.

I've come to the conclusion that 50% less scrubbing, actually means that I probably have 25% more scrubbing than before since the detergent probably used to be 75% less scrubbing. (Just my opinion, of course.)

I also took 3x more grease cleaning to mean that it probably used to be 4x the grease cleaning power before inflation, watering down, sizing down, and all the other "downs" which makes everything we buy go up.

Also, it claims 56oz = 7 refills. Seriously?!! Let me get this straight. I already have concluded my Dawn has been watered down based on the lack of grease cutting and need to constantly add more detergent to finish a regular basin-full of dishes. So they have the gall to think I'd water down the Dawn further to get 7 refills? It took 7 refills of my wash basin to complete the job!

Okay, I guess this was my personal soap opera. Sometimes these things just get me going. As it is, I don't have a dishwasher here. I try to get decent dish soap to get the job done without using a quarter of the bottle to do it. Yeah, I exaggerate, but not too much. *Ha* Hey, at least it was good clean fun!

It's a soapy wrap-up for this edition of the Comedy Newsletter.

Until next time--laugh hard, laugh often! And don't trust those ducks on your labels. *Duck**Duck*

Welcome home Web Witchy *Cool*

Thank you, Bill. It's good to be back in New England. *Delight*

Wow! I am honoured. Thank you for featuring not one, but two of my stories. What marketing genius decided to refer to the newer generation of televisions as smart? I suppose the slogan here-buy-this-dumb-illuminated-box didn't have quite the panache. Perhaps the intention was to sell the t.v.s as stylish/smart.

You're welcome! *Smile*
I sometimes miss my old Dumb-Tube which doesn't have me ad-tracked on every device I have. *RollEyes*

Hahaha! Great NL and so funny! And I can so relate! "Mom, you're paying too much to Comcast!" Both my sons said that. I'd rather pay "too much" than be troubled "too much." Especially with the advent of ai, not a day passes that some program gets my goat. The problem is I'll soon run out of goats and then what! Love your NLs. *Delight*

*Laugh* I know, right? I just want to turn on the TV and be able to see something I like without the connection fuss. It's in a good place for now.

Thank you, Joy! *Delight*
