Welcome to Writing.Com. You’ve joined a robust and versatile writing community. And to support that community, The StoryMaster and The StoryMistress have created a writing platform without peer called Writing.Com.
Unique among internet writing sites, WDC is a feature laden site enabling members to create and host Portfolios of their own writings and works, as well as the resources and tools to assist with that creation and storage.
Because of the myriad of features and the complexity of the site, questions often arise among the members as to how a particular task might be accomplished. To that end, several forums (places where members can ask questions and get answers) have been created. These forums are manned by both members and Staff, ready and willing to answer those questions from Newbies and seasoned members alike.
The two main help forums that can answer questions about the site specifically are: "Technical Support Forum" and "Non-Technical Support Forum" . Other forums that can answer questions writing in general include: "Writing.Com General Discussion" , "Noticing Newbies" , and "Site News & Announcements" . (By the way, that latter item is a Book item, not specifically a Forum.) Some forums are available only to specific member levels such as Preferred Authors and Moderators.
Like any item, you can (and should) make favorites of these helpful forums. When new information is posted in any of these items, they show up in your Favorites (the right hand column of your page). It may be that the question posted and answer received is the same topic that you wondered about. Or, it may be something you don’t need now, but may in the future. At the least you’ll know that such an answer exists.
Every day I check the Help forums hoping to answer questions that pop up there. I maintain a list of questions and answers I think may be important to others in my Notepad. Thus, I can find an answer quickly looking in one place without having to search five or six different forums for an answer that may have come up six months or longer ago.
For example, recently in "Technical Support Forum" a member posted a question about the Consistency Achievement merit badges. It seems the Forum MB streak was interrupted even though the member thought they had posted in a forum. Several points were brought out in the answers:
Editing an existing forum post will not count as posting in a forum.
Some folks who review every day, list that review in the original post by editing that post to save creating a new post every day.
Be sure you are actually posting in a Forum item.
Some items you may be responding to are either Book items, In-&-Out items, or even Survey items.
My point is whatever question you have may have been asked and answered in one of these forums. Marking them as Favorites and reading them daily (it often takes less time than actually creating a post) may save you time down the road. Plus, it’s a nice rush when you can answer another member’s question. Who doesn’t like to feel good?
Finally, you may want to find the answer to your question on your own. Honestly, that's my go to posture. I personally find I remember something better if I research the answer. Remember the WDC Reference Guide ("Writing.Com 101" ) is always at your beck and call in the Skin's Header.
Whatever your need, happy hunting.

Thanks for spending time with me today. At the bottom of every newsletter is a section entitled:
followed by a text box. If you liked what you read (or if you didn't), please take time and drop me a line. I'd love to hear your ideas.
From the mailbag:
From Merry_Mikey : All this time here, and I never noticed the difference between the My Favorites column and the Favorites 'string-finger'. Thanks for pointing that out!
Sometimes it's the small things that pass by unnoticed.
From the Newsfeed:
From HaveYourselfAMerryLi'lCharles : I didn’t know you could organize your favorites.
If you have a lot of Favorites, organizing them could help. I noticed 🐕GeminiGem🎁 told you about folders.
From 🐕GeminiGem🎁 : My Favorites are allegedly organized into categories. I have to go through and clean things out occasionally because a bunch of stuff gets in there just by visiting a forum one time.
Me too!!
From bobconstable: I only use the Maine Folder when I'm down east.
Being from Maine, I can relate.
From Happy to write : I am a Dumper yes much easier it is.
From jackson : They fall where they may, and that's where they stay.
Organization isn't for everyone.
