When Manifesting GPs Doesn't Work

Gift Points (GPs) can be elusive little buggers. They slip out of your account, a little here, a lot there. Next thing you know you are looking to renew your membership and it isn't looking very favorable because the tank is too low. What's a WdC-er to do?

You may need to do a little work to grease the wheels of your manifestation for that plump little GP account. By the way, if you are uncomfortable with the term "manifest", substitute the word "wish". Anyway, here are some ideas to get you started.

HIT THE SALES. Occasionally, Writing.com does run a sale on GPs. You pay real money but you get more GPs for your real money buck. It is a good way to stock up if you have some room on the ole Visa and you timed it right.

Let's say that is not an option because the sale isn't currently running, or maybe your spousal unit has put a moratorium on spending real money to get WdC money, or maybe you just like finding other ways to pump up your GP account.

REVIEW IT. You may have noticed that you receive GP rewards from WdC when you do a review. When you review a person you have not reviewed before, you get even more GPs. If you want to capitalize on those reviews and really get the GP's flowing into your account, join one of the review groups who reward their reviewers with GPs! (Please note, there are some groups who reward with merit badges, trinkets, etc. That is also great, but let's pretend for a moment that we are only interest in being rewarded with GPs.)

Here are some groups you may want to consider:

PSST! You can participate in more than one review group to make the most of all of your reviewing efforts. Shhh! Don't tell the others! This is a deep, dark secret.

To find other reviewing groups, click on RECENT REVIEWS in the left-hand column of your screen. Then click on MOST ACTIVE REVIEWING GROUPS.

PUT THE FUN IN FUNDRAISER. Run a raffle, an auction, or shop to entice other members to hand over their GPs to you and your cause.

I have seen fundraisers that collect GP's for a person's membership, and that is perfectly fine. It is better, though, to not make that the sole focus of the fundraiser. I think you will find that people are more willing to participate in a fundraiser that benefits an activity (even if it is one you own and run) as well as your membership fund. You can lay out how you plan to split the final pot of GPs in the forum so the participants are aware of where their donation is going.

We'll talk more on this subject in a later newsletter. Thank you to Mouse says gobble gobble Author Icon for the topic suggestion that led to this newsletter. Your Merit Badge is on its way!
