Letter from the editor

Two surveys down and two to go! Here is a look at which songs were slaughtered, which songs put up a good fight, and which romantic song just missed the mark in the end.

We'll do one more elimination round (in the item linked below the results). Included in the survey is a place for your comments on the toughest matchup. Next month I'll feature some of the more lively song vs. song debate. In the final round, you'll get to sort the most romantic songs into whatever order you want. Don't forget to leave comments!

*Star* Reader Comments:

*Bullet* Kenzie Author Icon: This survey was just as hard as the last one. Yikes. There were certainly lots of great love songs, though. Almost impossible to narrow them down. I said if before. This is quite an ambitious undertaking.

*Bullet* Serenity Author Icon: You had one of two of my all time favs: "Every Breath You Take" by The Police, and "I Remember You" by Skid Row!! I only felt that there were way too many options, and as it is great to do research it felt like overkill to me. You had some great songs listed though!

*Bullet* KevG Author Icon: This is possibly the most fun I've had in a while. I own almost 1000 cds and most of these are in there somewhere. I was delighted to see "Time In A Bottle" by Croce, although "I Have To Say I Love You In A Song" would be my choice as his best and most romantic song. Where's 'Hallelujah' by Jeff Buckley?

*Bullet* Ms Kimmie Author Icon: I knew 98% of the songs on the list so that made it a little difficult. I wanted to choose more than I was allowed to choose! Would have liked to see:
"Always Be My Baby" & "Dreamlover" - Mariah Carey
"Dreamweaver" - Gary Wright
"Like Lovers Do" - Heather Nova
"Wait in Vain" - Annie Lennox
"Come Back to Bed" - John Mayer
"Adore" & "The Most Beautiful Girl in the World" - Prince
"You and Me" - Alice Cooper
"Every Time You Go Away" - Paul Young
"Lovely Day" - Bill Withers
"I Keep Forgettin'" (we're not in love anymore) - Michael McDonald

Ask & Answer

*Bullet* I had a challenge in the last issue for people to write new romantic lyrics. I didn't have any takers, but a few people did send me some older lyrics they had written before this challenge.

animatqua: I couldn't get "Parsley, Sage, Rosemary, and Thyme" out of my mind one day, but the words seemed wrong for the tune (even though both are very old). Anyway, I wrote this to that tune
