Anyone who has followed my Newsletters or Newsfeed notes knows this year has had it’s hits and misses. It started when I got back to my highly appreciated snowbirding days when Halloween ended up North and the chill in the air brought me South. I have dreams of sunshine and warmth as the cold and expected snow of New England disappears in my rear view mirror.
Truth is, Florida arrival was rather disappointing since the pool was still closed. I felt bad for those who are year-rounders, their summer was pooless. So, I looked forward to the holidays and the hope the pool would finally open. I mean it had enough of a rest from May to December. But no! Emails said permits were still in progress so the wai went on. It’s now March and still no pool. We were then told we could use one of our sister-parks. By the time I checked it out their heater broke and it was shut down in January awaiting repairs. Another delay!
Since two parks now, had no pools available , we were told we could go to another sister-park, a little further away. Finally, I got tired of waiting and decided to go to the strange pool. It’s actually not strange. It’s a very nice pool with a better hot tub than our own. It also has a steam room and inside showers for a complete day of being spoiled using other people’s water.
I wondered how long that would last. They would eventually arise and rebel over the overuse by other people not of their park using their facilities with such joy. Of course the peeps from park #2 had to invade their space as well due to their heater being broken and needing time to be mended.
The day came when we headed to our new favorite pool expecting our fabulous spa-like treatment when the gate code simply refused to work! Could it be they no longer wanted to share with their sisters? I was in panic mode standing by the gate, until another friend from the original nightmare pool-down park approached the gate.
“Hi, Robyn. The gate won’t open with the code we were given. I don’t see any peeps from our park here, either.”
It turned out that park number 2 finally got their heater up and running. With that working, there was no need for the park spillover crowd in sister-park #3.
“Webbie, here’s the new code. I got it from an acquaintance who lives in this park. It should work well for a bit of time before more people find out and crowd out the pool, again.”
“Thanks, Robyn. No worries. I won’t tell another soul the new code.”
Me? I guess I was lucky being in the right place at the right time to get it. Should I mention, larger jacuzzi, sauna and shower? Heck, my lips are sealed! Park #2 doesn’t even have a Jacuzzi, let alone shower and sauna. Plus, there’s no overcrowding, plenty of chairs, chaises and umbrellas to relax and enjoy the rest of my time in Florida before heading back to New England.
Now that’s a definite win-win!
Until next time--laugh hard, laugh often!

S 🤦
In novels, no matter the genre, most publishers I have worked with like there to be a few comedy scenes. King's dictum is used across the trad published field. Fortunately, I read that in King's book, and have included scenes that can at least bring a smile in even the most horror-filled tales.
I love it when some humor is woven into stories at the most unexpected time. A mostly serious author could be seen in an unexpected light, causing more interest on the reader's part.
Beholden
If comic relief was good enough for Shakespeare, it's good enough for me.
Amen to that, Beholden!
Thank you for your feedback!
See you next month ...
