The time has finally come to reveal the voters' choice for their favorite romantic song of all time.
I gave 10 points to each voter's first choice, 9 points to the 2nd place, etc. on down to 1 point for the last-place pick. I didn't know which song were winning until I added all the points together. It was surprising to see several songs come close in range with each other. Finally, here are the results to the Romantic Song Showdown:
10th Place - 113 points
"Heaven"~ Bryan Adams
9th Place - 121 points
"From This Moment"~ Shania Twain
8th Place - 136 points
"My Heart Will Go On"~ Celine Dion
7th Place - 142 points
"When A Man Loves A Woman"~ Percy Sledge
6th Place - 149 points
"Take My Breath Away"~ Berlin
5th Place - 150 points
"Wonderful Tonight"~ Eric Clapton
4th Place - 155 points
"Open Arms"~ Journey
3rd Place - 167 points
"Don't Wanna Miss A Thing"~ Aerosmith
2nd Place - 168 points
"Unchained Melody"~ Righteous Brothers
1rst Place - 195 points
"Everything I Do (I do It For You)" ~ Bryan Adams
Reader Comments
Carpageo : I loved all of your surveys; it seemed each song took me back to a completely different memory (if that is possible)!
One thing I'd like to note: It was difficult to read the choices, once I got past the first three, b/c I had to scroll up & down in order to read the ones I hadn't voted on yet & had forgotten. I'm not sure if there's anything you can do about this (except perhaps have a duplicate drop down menu for each consecutive number/voting choice?)
All in all, you've done a really fine job. I'm looking forward to the results. Please check out my latest survey "Invalid Item" . I gave you credit for it right in the title, because your Romantic song Showdowns inspired me to do it!
SHERRI GIBSON : This survey was so much fun if you are a music lover like me. There are so many wonderful love songs out there...past and present. Next to writing, music is my all time favorite. I think they go hand in hand in numerous ways. I would have liked to see Bon Jovi's "I'll Be There For You" and "Thank You For Loving Me" on this list.
Poetic ~ Luck ~ Charm :These were all very romantic songs with the right mood and feeling to them. I can't wait to see how the results tally, it is going to be interesting.
fleckgirl: I'm somewhat surprised at the 10 songs left, but Aerosmith's "Don't Wanna Miss a Thing" holds a special place in my heart. Hope it wins.
Romance Writing Tip of the Day: Your main female character can play the heroine in your romance story; not every woman needs to be saved. Consider letting her be the person that takes charge and fixes the problems.

You gave the stars their fire
She closes her eyes and lets the warm lamp of this room dance before her eyelids.
There was something familiar about him, but recognition eluded me until he smiled.
It hit me like a line drive
What time periods do people like the best?
He softly whispers the words
I lost my love among the broken trees
Remember when you promised you would never leave me?
The warmth of his hand was wonderful, filling me with hope.
I glow in your arms
That little lady in the stands would someday be my wife. |
