About This Newsletter

The holiday season brings happiness, joy, depression, sorrow - a mixture of emotions. Those emotions create a foundation for writing of all kinds.

HappyHolidays

Did you know, that in surveys taken by several entities, over fifty percent of the population in the United States feel sorrow and/or depression during the holiday season? Part of the reason is the pressure to be happy during this time so when the sorrows of life hit during November through December, the sadness is heavier, harder to handle. What a subject to use in writing a story, novel, poem, or article.

Did you realize that we all want to feel the joy and peace this time of year represents? Again, the search, the feelings, the need - all create a great start for writing.

As my life has several traumatic memories from the Thanksgiving/Christmas times, I can understand how some people dread this time of year; but I don't. I look forward to it because of what it represents: family and relationships and a deep happiness that even the tragedies of life cannot erase. Fodder for more writing.

An example of my holiday writing is the following poem:

Thanks, Monty. I'm doing much better, and will do even more so when I can stand to look at the monitor longer. *Laugh* I'm having withdrawal.
