The Purpose of This Newsletter

*Check4* Want to know why you're receiving this newsletter?

The Newbie Newsletters are geared toward hints and tips on how to get around and do things. Look at any editor's back issues and you will probably find the answers to your questions. The FAQS linked at the top of the screen hold answers to the most frequently asked questions. Scroll on down the FAQ page for the answers.

*Check2* A Most Important Tip! You MUST allow POP-UPS on the site. Many of the windows are pop-up, and if your Blocker is left on, you'll only find frustration.

*Check5* Study and become familiar with your account page. It holds your Bio, your mail, your favorites, etc., almost everything is done through this page. It's your most useful main area.

*Check3* Place and leave your Port on PRIVATE VIEW so you will have handy the links you need to edit and spell-check, and so on. You can click PUBLIC VIEW to see how your BIO and items appear to all of us and the public when we visit, but put it back on private view. No one else can see your port's private view status, so don't worry about that. It's always on PUBLIC VIEW to everyone except you.

*Check3* The site is huge and it takes time and a bit of exploring to find how to do things. When you signed up, you received some helpful e-mails with instructions on how to post your work, among other things. "Getting Started" is the place to begin. Reading, exploring, and investigating forums and writings will help you become familiar with the terminology used on the site. Such as the mysterious bitems and GPs.

*Check4* The other genre newsletters give tips and examples in fun and useful ways. We all learn a lot about the crafts of writing, reading and reviewing through our well written letters, don't give them up too soon. Isn't learning the craft the reason we're here? The purpose of the newsletters are to help you in your journey.

*Check1* Enjoy the site, and don't worry about not knowing everything at once. It takes time. You'll get there, enjoy the journey. Welcome to your second community!
