WANTED: One Honest To Goodness Hero
As the world becomes smaller and bad guys and evil organizations become larger, many people feel that their way of life is threatened by powerful and basically insane people. If half of our polictical system is against America winning in Iraq, aren't they then against America? If our news media and college professors promote their own polictical views rather than the truth, aren't they abusing their First Amendment rights? Why is Christopher Columbus all of the sudden an evil guy? Why are they trying to rewrite history? Who is trying to kill all our heroes, and why?
Personally, I am frightened by the spiraling downfall of this great nation. I feel in my heart of hearts, that we are under constant attack from both the inside and out. We are are own worse enemy. We try to rehabilitate our hardened criminals; we are guilted into being politically correct, which mutes us from speaking out against injustice. We have become a society that is over legislated, we're told how to raise our children, what kind of car we should drive, what we should or should not eat, what we can or cannot say so that we don't offend anyone, and kept in constant fear and guilt that we are the cause for the destruction of the entire world.
Well, personally, I've had it! America is the country of the FREE. The HOME OF THE BRAVE! We don't need BIG BROTHER telling us what we can or cannot do. What we DO need is a strong leader--we need a HERO.
Characteristics for an American HERO:
 Strong, action oriented male/female with extraordinary abilities
Strong leadership skills
A clear and direct moral code
Able to face a variety of life threatening situations
Must speak English
Has no regard for political correctness
Must believe in the motto: 'You're either with us, or agin' us.'
Would rather kickass than negotiate
If you fit these descriptions, then you're country NEEDS YOU!
If you are willing to stand up for everything that's GOOD and RIGHT in the world, then we need you NOW!
If you're idea of JUSTICE is to be swift and representative of AN EYE FOR AN EYE, then you are the American Hero we are looking for.
JOE HERO, WE NEED YOU!

The adventure story, where one or a few characters are able to save or restore a threatened WAY OF LIFE or some important aspect of society, is appealing in the same way that the story of Robin Hood continues to appeal.
ACTION is the key ingredient here. It may be person against person or it may be person against the environment or the world. The main thing is: kick butt and get the job done!

Loved your hole-in-the-ground adventure! I can smell the earth (worms and all!) and even feel the dozens of creepie-crawlies down my neck. Eesh! And just before bed, too! Good one.

Frightening, but I was lucky to avoid those type of expiriences as a kid. I actually ended up being the one running whichever of my younger brothers was hurt that time inside the house to my parents. Maybe that's how I got into the medical field...
There is a story called, Owlsight, that I enjoy. It's the first of a trilogy, the folowing two books are, Owlflight, and Owlknight. They're by Mercedes Lackey and Larry Dickson.(he's her husband.) I think you'd like them.
