Pixie, kobold, elf, and sprite,
All are on their rounds tonight;
In the wan moon's silver ray,
Thrives their helter-skelter play.

Get in the spirit
It's that time of year where I am bombarded by pumpkin and cinnamon smells. My heart flutters as vibrant leaves casually fall from sleeping trees. Football (American) is in full swing and some Sundays are spent encouraging the TV screen so my team will win.
Yes Fall is here and so are a slew of holidays. Halloween, Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa, New Year's Eve - they're all coming faster than I believe is possible! And I either celebrate these holidays or I have friends who do and they therefore must be called or visited or at least sent a card.
Other than the calendar I barely look at, a good way to remember all these upcoming holidays is to take a breather now and then and indulge in the new static items popping up around the site. The very first page has a featured section that usually holds some promising seasonal stories, such as, "Invalid Item" .
Or, if you're looking to immerse yourself in new items that pertain to a particular seasonal topic, you can simply pop a key word into the search engine - like "Fall" -and get a ton of varied items as a result, such as this mysteriously enticing invite, "Invalid Item" .
Of course, I think the contests are the best part of holidays on WDC. They can get very creative and contestants seem to bond more when writing about and/or discussing their favorite holidays. It isn't necessarily about winning something, but joining together in good fun and merriment. Or to scare one another into melted snow puddles, like this item suggests, "Invalid Item" .
Oh, and all those banner and signatures and so forth are quite eye catching and festive. If you're looking for something to snazz up your forum posts, check this out, "Invalid Item" .
Are you ready to celebrate the upcoming holidays? If you're looking to get more into the "spirit" of things, I suggest simply digging a little around the site. It might be easier than you think to unearth a few Halloween skeletons or the remains of some spiced pumpkin pie.
Happy Holidays!

Thanks For The Feedback From My Last Contest NL! ('waaaay back when...)
~Shana Determined to Be~ :
I liked this newsletter. I'm going to try and remember to do the whole reviewing the contest thing. Sounds fun!
kelly1202:
Great Newsletter, Tehanu! And a wonderful challenge to get everyone out investigating all those contests we have running. I appreciate you listing my two contests as well. Keep up the good work!
Anne Light :
Thanks for this newsletter! As I'm planning to open a contest, it gives me a pretty good idea, what to expect. And I'm culpable of not reviewing contests. You'll be responsible for changing that! Anne
kiyasama:
Muchas gracias for the plug, T! And you bring up some other good contests that I've had the pleasure of participating in. The key to reviewing a contest, I think, is to make sure that the creator of it has taken everything into consideration. If there's nothing that you're not sure of or you feel that there should be one or two things that can be done to make it better, then by all means, the reviewer should make that known without being rude about it.
Thanks again for the good pointers!
darkin:
