*Flower2* Curious About a Few Things? *Flower2*

Being the new kid on the block is not always easy. You cannot simply jump in and know everything there is to know right away. And I can tell you even with us oldies, this place is always adding new options along with improvements, so I can safely say most members here continue to learn new things often. *Bigsmile* So please...If you have any questions, don't be shy about asking! We are happy to help in any way we possibly can.

I'm going to throw out a few random questions that many Newbies are curious about and hopefully answer them to your satisfaction. *Bigsmile*

Q: Why do some cases have small pictures on them and others don't? How can I get one of those?

A: First of all, the small pictures are called costumicons. They are costumes you can choose for your case, which also shows up in your portfolio. Members of any level who pay for Premium Memberships automatically get free use of costumicons. They are fun to display and show off, but are not necessary. Writing.com will sometimes run a short subscription available to those who do not have a Premium Membership, which require gift points for purchase.

Q: How can I make my font different colors and sizes?

A: There is this handy little place called WritingML that tells you everything you need to know about fonts, colors, emoticons, creating links, etc. Look to the left of your screen under Site Navigation. You will find Site Tools in the list below it. Click it and a list will come up in alphabetical order. Now scroll down to WritingML. There you have it! *Smile* But make sure your pop-up blocker is turned off because otherwise it will not come up. This is also a great place to learn the bitem format when posting items in other forums. *Wink* You most likely will want to know how to do this.

Q: I'm not getting many reviews yet. How can I get more exposure?

A: You can post your item(s) on "The Shameless "Plug" PageOpen in new Window. for starters. *Smile* Many reviewing members check this site knowing items are posted here because other members want to be reviewed. This makes it nice for both reviewer and reviewee.

I'm sure many of you have at least a question or two you'd like answered. *Smile* If you are confused about anything, don't hesitate to contact us. If there is a subject or issue you'd like to see in the newsletter, we are always open to suggestions.

Have a wonderful week!!!

Keep on Writing!

Yours truly,
Cubby ")

Beasts of the American West Open in new Window. [13+]
The adventures of a pair of bison brothers in a changing Wild West.
by Fighter Ace Author Icon

Excerpt:The dry, brown grass crunched beneath the bison's hooves as he made his way to the river and began lapping at the cool, refreshing water. The water made him feel better and cooled him off. Blaze lifted his head, letting the drops of water drip from his bearded chin and fall back into the river. He was beginning to wonder where his overly protective brother was. As a matter of fact, Rhen was kind of late today.

by Kit Darrow Author Icon

"She's hurt!" Toni yelped as he showed her to Ann. "Quick, let's take her to my quarters, and hush! We don't want anyone to see her, or well be punished."

Katie and Her Kite Open in new Window. [E]
A beautiful day with my daughter.
by Brian K Walters Author Icon

Excerpt:
The smile on her face was brighter than the sun surrounding her.
I couldn't help but laugh as her infectious giggle rode the wind.
"Make it go higher daddy!" she said while running by my side.
Her voice fluttered with every step she took through the sand.

I was lucky enough to be given Preferred Author status a couple of months ago, and I'd just like to reiterate the comments you made about not expecting it. It is a privilege, which if you put the time and effort in to the wonderful commmunity we have here, it will come. For me it was most unexpected, and that is a wonderful bonus.

*Bigsmile* I will never forget my excitement when I became a Preferred Author! Thanks for sharing your comments. *Smile*

*Note*Chubby's Question(s)of the Month*Note*
How badly do you want to be published ?

I just want this one thing before I die one day. I may fall on my face in this writing class, but I need this. It's about leaving something behind that my grandchildren and daughters will be proud of. This would be the most important accomplishment I could ever achieve in my entire life. It's the air that I breath, the joy in my life, my sanity, my hope for a tomorrow, the sun in my face on a cloudy day, the laughter in my voice that you hear from far away, the smile you see in my eyes, the lift to my steps when you see me walk, this is true happiness I have never had in my life, the dark whole it will fill. My dream come true. Cissy

What a great answer! *Smile*
