Letter from the editor

Signing Off

Well, I guess this time has been a while in coming. I've come to a point where I feel it is time to take a break from being editor for the Spiritual Newsletter. It has been a long time - I first appeared as a Spiritual Editor on 11th August, 2003. That's 5 years ago! Whoa, I can hardly believe it myself.

It is a bittersweet time, and a decision that did not come lightly. I see my role as a great privilege...bringing God's word to people is always a privilege, and so is being a WDC editor. I feel that my Lord has given me the green light, so to speak. One of the hard parts of the decision was losing the opportunity to bring the things of God into a public forum, but I know that I've done my 'time' and can finish up with the blessing of having 'run the race', holding a peace in my spirit.

Indeed life is all about seasons. There's been many times when I've felt like giving up, particularly in the face of criticisms or during illness when it just seemed to take too much energy. I find Paul's words to Timothy in 2 Timothy 4:2-7 have a poignant and meaningful emphasis for me at this time.

"Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage - with great patience and careful instruction. For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They wil turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry. For I am already being poured out like a drink offering and the time has come for my departure. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."

So bearing in mind the above, be wary of wrong teachings and "myths". Guard your hearts and minds. As the world continues to morally deteriorate and there are increases in natural disasters, wars, and lawless societies, it is not a stretch at all to see we are heading toward Christ's second coming. Whether that event is in our lifetime or not, live all your days as if it were tomorrow -- so that we may stand blameless before Him on judgement day, forgiven and saved by the grace given to us through Jesus' death on the cross.

Thank you for sharing this past five years with me.

See you around the site:

*Balloon4* I won first place with this quote and I think it means so much regarding the subject at hand.To believe in something seen measures a person’s intelligence but to believe in something unseen shows the depth of a person’s soul.--Diane

I love that quote. Thanks for the feedback, Diane. *Smile*

*Balloon4* Great newsletter this time. I thoroughly agree and hear from God all the time so I can relate to you. He speaks through His word, His Spirit and other people. It just "jumps up in you". Great job. I enjoy reading you.

         Thank you! *Delight*

*Balloon4* I found another way to hear from God in something I read once. Sometimes God's voice is in our own thoughts. It was suggested that if you wanted to know what God was saying, you write a letter to Him. I tried this later and found it to be quite affective.

I have written to God also, especially in times of overwhelming grief. Thank you for reminding me of this. *Thumbsup*

*Balloon4* I love your article on "Hearing From God." You summed it up in a nutshell. I particularly liked how you broke down the concept of spirituality. I couldn't agree more.
Thank you,

         You're very welcome. *Wink*

*Balloon4* Thanks for the great newsletter on hearing from God. I believe this will be a work in season to many. And as for you and your husband, hang on to that dream! God does big things. My husband and I thought building a home was too big for us, but the Lord made it happen last year. Keep praying and moving forward! He can do it for EVERYBODY!

I agree, absolutely! There is so much freedom in trying doors and giving God the control of whether they open or not. I appreciate your kind words.

*Balloon4* Thanks, pretty impressed!

         *Blush* How kind!

*Balloon4* Puditat -wonderful topic...Hearing From God? I must admit I hear from God each day, if I get on my kneels and pray each morning, thanking him for the beautiful day, and for another day in my life and asking HIM : Help me, Lord, to do thy will and lead me down the path YOu wish for me today.
I HEAR God - but I admit I talk to HIm all he time...just normal conversing as with my best friend, and I've learned to praise Him for the wonders of simple things, a sky, answering a prayer (i.e. no food in the house - food shows up on my steps the next day). Others don't believe me, but I KNOW what a "god-shot" is - when a heart changes, a call from old friends on the day you feel pathetic. so many examples of God whispering to me...a bird chirps when i ask for a sign, or I feel a gentle brush of wind across my face. Do I HEAR FROM GOD? You Betcha I do! And no one has yet to prove me wrong.! Cool Newsletter!
