Activities

(Click on Activity titles for more detailed descriptions)

"Invalid EntryOpen in new Window. are amusing and fun. Creating a madlib is like setting up the bones of a story and letting someone else fill in the details. It can show you what words or story elements are interchangeable and what are not. The great thing about madlibs is that they combine so many ideas to create a multitude of outcomes. What you had in mind is hardly what participants will come up with when filling in their answers! The outcome is often hilarious!

"Invalid EntryOpen in new Window. may not seem like inspirational items, but they are! Just as reviewing your peers here at Writing.Com, looking critically at books, movies, music, etc. can help you see what works and what doesn't. When writing product reviews, think about what moved you, what stood out, what didn't work for you, etc. Also, think about why you had these reactions, and see if you can apply that information to your own writing.

"Invalid EntryOpen in new Window. are another great way to pass some time, puzzles that require an observant eye. Creating a word search can also be a good exercise for your creative mind - creating a topic and choosing related words. Try to think of words that don't immediately come to mind - stretch your imagination! Perhaps your uncommon word choices will inspire you or others!

"Invalid EntryOpen in new Window. can be very inspirational! Not only are they great ways to come up with new & unique questions, they're a great way to get a good idea of how others think about a certain topic or question.

"Invalid EntryOpen in new Window. are great ways to interact with other members and to inspire yourself and others. Whether you are the owner of an interactive story or a contributor, you'll more than likely find yourself inspired by others' additions.

"Invalid EntryOpen in new Window. test your knowledge of an array of topics. Whether silly or serious, quizzes have the power to challenge the mind and to offer knowledge.

"Invalid EntryOpen in new Window., like Interactive Stories, are great ways to find inspiration and to interact with other members. Whether it's a word game, a place to request reviews, or even a guestbook, In & Outs offer an opportunity to interact and be creative!

"Invalid EntryOpen in new Window. are for serious writers who dedicate time and effort into creating a unique story with others. Campfire participants work together to create a fun, unique and interactive experience!

"Invalid EntryOpen in new Window., like polls, are an interactive way to get feedback on a particular topic or question. You can even use surveys to get specific feedback on your writing!

"Invalid EntryOpen in new Window. are creative ways to communicate with fellow Writing.Com members. You can say congratulations, thanks, or give recognition for an acheivement.

A few things to keep in mind:

Courtesy - In all interactive activities, it's important to keep in mind the feelings of others. Remember that written communication lacks the subtlety in real-life communication. Often things like humor, sarcasm, and other emotions, can be misinterpreted. Try to make your intentions clear and be understanding if someone misinterprets your words. *Smile*

Be creative - I'd say one of the most important aspects of this site is to inspire creativity. Try to step outside your normal boundaries - try something new!
