Special Interest Forums

Saturday, September 13th, my wife and I attended the Haskell Indian Nations University sponsored Indian Art Market in Lawrence, Kansas. The Indian Art Market is an annual event where Native Americans come to sell their handmade crafts. The event also includes Native American music, dancing, and other ceremonial festivities. It had rained all day the previous Friday and most of the day on Saturday and the PowWow grounds where the event was held were extremely wet and muddy. It was an enjoyable day of activity, even as we trudged through the soggy, muddy fields. My wife’s birthday is a few short days away and I bought her some beautiful handmade jewelry from one of the many booths.

The next morning, Sunday, when I awoke and took my dogs outside, the weather was cold and windy. Well, I admit it was not really cold, but when you are accustomed to hot Kansas summers, it seems cold - chilly enough that I scampered back inside to grab a jacket.

The changing weather is a good indication that winter is not far away, ‘just around the corner,’ as my grandparents would have said. With the changing weather and the approaching of winter, many of us will be spending more time indoors in the warmth. This means, most likely, there will be more time spent on the computer and more time to participate in the activities here at Writing.com.

Included in the activities and contests are ‘special interest’ forums. Each of us has things that we are interested in and many of those interests are covered in open Writing.com forums. Following is a list of a few special interest forums:
