About This Newsletter

Reading a horror story, one that keeps you on the edge of your seat until the last page, is what every horror fan dreams of. Being scared, to the point that sleep is almost impossible, makes the read all the more worthwhile. Does that make us crazy? You bet!!!

My name is Darkin, and I’m your host this week for the Horror Newsletter.

Letter from the editor

Where do the ideas come from?

Usually, when a writer sits down at their computer they have an idea, even if it's just a glimmer of one.

But what if your muse isn't doing her job? What if you need a little push to get that story going?

In the horror world, there are plenty of things that make a great tale; all that's needed is your unique spin on them. Here is a partial list of horror story ideas. Most of these I've gleamed from horror novels and movies.

Do with them what you will*Smile*

Reincarnation
Evil's embodiment
The Antichrist
Voodoo
Self-sacrifice
Thought projection
ESP
Judgment day
Spontaneous human combustion
Ghosts
Séances
Transmogrification (ability to change into another shape)
Immortality
Fairies
Leprechauns
Banshees
Ancestor worship
Vampires
Levitation
Psychic combat
Telepathy
UFO's
Hypnotic regression
Ghouls
Astrology
Witchcraft
Living statues
Mind manipulation
Alien invasion
Biologically engineered humans
Primal source
Egyptian magic
The talisman
Atlantis
Mummification
Errors of heaven and hell
Good and evil
Ice-beasts
Zombies
Killer robots
Werewolves
Nature attacks
Homicidal maniacs
Bigfoot
Nessie
Killer robots
Flesh-eating viruses
Trapped in a haunted house
Computer comes to life/attacks people
Demonic possession
Dragons
Inbred cannibals
Vengeful spirits

Any of these ideas could be used to write a wonderfully scary story. Combining more than one can bring a very different perspective to your tale. How about an Egyptian werewolf? Or a vampire that contracts a flesh-eating virus? Anything is possible in the world of horror writing*Laugh*

Thank you for taking the time to read. Happy Writing!
