A Perfect Moment
We all know there is no such thing as a perfect person or a perfect relationship. But, every once in awhile if you're lucky, you experience a perfect moment in time. A moment when nothing matters except sitting beside the person you're with, when nothing from the real world can distract you.
My perfect moment occurred one gorgeous fall day right before my birthday, in a park with a view of the Pittsburgh skyline. The day was warm as spring, and we sat on a hill under a tree with our arms wrapped around each other. Leaves fell randomly from the trees and floated to the ground around us. We rarely talked, and when we did it was to discuss how much fun we had together that weekend. I made some silly but profound comments about how trees are unique, like people. We smiled a lot. We had fun without being anywhere special. No, scratch that. Where we were was special simply because we were there.
That moment lasted an hour, and for that hour we forgot about work and school. We forgot about the fact that things had changed and just enjoyed the fact that things were beginning to change again. The leaves that were falling would be replaced by new ones. Relationships aren't perfect; people aren't perfect, but, if you stop and let it be, sometimes a moment it. |

((This month, I'd like to know: which love songs do you enjoy?))
Almost any Neil Diamond love song inspires me. One of his lesser known songs, "I who have nothing," I mentioned in my unpublished novel, Home of the White Dolphin, about a certain multibillionaire's wedding. -J. A. Buxton
Thank you for featuring my piece "Invalid Item" .
I agree that love "helps you get through life". I think it adds texture and dimension to our lives . -Phoenix |
