The dictionary tells us it’s: A competition, especially one in which entrants are rated by judges. But what is a Writing.com Activity? Within that category, you have the chance to win raffles, contests, review or be reviewed, speed write, answer serious, silly and sometimes complex questions, solve puzzles, and most of all, learn while having fun. A special 'Thank You' to Pass it on for creating and allwoing me to use the image at the beginning of this newsletter. After a few email exchanges, I am happy to report that she is now the proud owner of this award winning contest.
It is my pleasure to introduce Tammy by way of this exclusive interview: Pam: Let me begin with the usual questions. Where were you born and do you still live there? Tammy: I was born in Dallas, Texas, and I now live in North Iowa. Pam: Are you married and do yo have children. If so, what are their names and how old are they? Tammy: I have two children, a son, Cody who is thirteen, and my daughter, Caitlyn is eleven. I have a significent other of two years. Pam: When did you start writing? Tammy: I started writing poetry when I was about 10 years old. Pam: How did you come to find Writing.Com? Tammy: I found it doing a Yahoo search. Pam: Looking into your portfolio, I see that you host a weekly contest, a monthly contest, a numbers activity, a raffle, a review forum, and the newly aquired "THE DROP-OFF BOX " by Tammy~Catchin Up~ . How do you manage? Tammy: I spend most of my free time here. I found this site in December after losing my Mom to cancer and it has been a life-saver! It has provided me with such an outlet for my emotions. I work the night-shift and my kids are old enough that they don't require constant care. So I have time to spend my afternoons here. I try to maintain all my contests and events that I have going on a daily basis...so they don't have time to build-up and overwhelm me! Pam: What advise do you have for new members on the site? Tammy: To get involved...there are so many things to do. NO question is a dumb one....if you need help here reach out for it. You really won't have far to reach, everyone makes you feel welcome and most are eager to help! Have Fun!! Thank you, Tammy, for the interview and your words of wisdom. If you're a new member, pop into her portfolio and enter her contest. Even if you're not a new member, keep in mind, she has a contest for everyone. QUESTIONS, ANSWERS, FEEDBACK AND A LITTLE CHATTER ...AND NOW... ** Image ID #758245 Unavailable ** A Little Chit-Chat From Me To You A FOND FAREWELL The sun is setting, there is a cool breeze from the ocean gently swaying the curtain at the window, and I am sipping my cup of tea as I write this, my farewell edition of the Contest Newsletter. I want to take this moment to express my gratitude to all the readers and my fellow Contest Newsletter editors who have subscribed, encouraged and emailed me. Thank you from my heart. I assumed that as I aged, my life would become less hectic. How wrong I was. I have a full summer schedule of people visiting us at our house by the sea, along with endless fishing excursions on our newly aquired boat. Now I've learned that my younger son intends to marry his sweetheart next spring, just at the end of our busy tax season. Seems like I'll barely have time to plan my own wedding to David J IS Death & Taxes later that summer. I was fortunate to be the editior of the first Contest Newsletter in November 2002. It has been so much fun writing it each month, which makes it a hard decision for me to give it up. I hope that you will all continue to enter as many contests as you can. Remember, it helps improve your writing skills and gets your hard work read and reviewed.
