You can feel the excitement in the air. The high energy is building and the floodgates are about to open. You can sense the static generated from so much enthusiasm, as September 1st nears and the WDC 11th year Birthday Celebration officially starts. What new contests are out there? Will there be an auction, where I can pick up that autographed book I wish to add to my collection? How many raffles can I win in one month? These questions and more are in the air as September rounds the corner with the answers. |

With so many activities coming up, in addition to those contest and activities already in progress, how do you keep track of everything?I myself have several ways of doing this, and most of them involve functions of this site. The one method I use that doesn't, is the paper and pen method, which leaves trails of lists and notes cluttering my desk. The other methods of keeping track are quick and easy.
Whenever I find an activity I wish to participate in, I put it in my favorites list. At the top of every activity on the site, there is a place you can click on to add it to your favorites list. To the right of the screen, at the top of the page, you will see a little printer image, a plus + sign and an envelope. If you click the plus sign, it will add the activity to your favorites list. By having an item in my favorites, as others post or comment, I can see my favorites which have been accessed recently, off to the right of the screen. Also, if I need to go search for a favorite, I simply open my favorites tab, on the left of my screen, under my account, and I can see a list of the items I am currently watching, following, participating, donating to, and bidding in. This way, I know if an auction I am bidding in, or donated to, is about to end, and I can up my bids if needed. If I forgot the name or lost the link, it is always safe in my favorites list.
My favorite method of keeping track of the activities I have donated to, or auctions I have bid in, is to place the information in my notepad. On the left of the screen, under the WDC logo, down five icons, to underneath the GPs listed, are five small icons placed side to side. The fourth one from the left is your notepad. Your account membership level decides the number of pages you have available to you in your notepad.
Free membership =1 page
Basic membership=2 pages
Upgrade membership=5 pages
Premium membership=25 pages
Premium Plus membership=50 pages
As you can see, having a higher membership level does have a few perks. With an upgraded or above, using three separate pages, you can track the auctions you have donated prizes to, sigs you most commonly use, and auctions you are bidding in. The editing function and navigation is easy to follow and edit.
When I donate a prize to an auction. I go into the notepad page I have listed for auction donations, and make an entry. I list the auction link I am donating to, the prize I am submitting, and the time and date the auction ends on. This gives me plenty of referencing information for later.
With so many activities in progress, and more about to open for the Birthday celebration, don't lose track of items you would like to frequent. List them in your favorites. If you have donated a prize to an auction, be sure to notate it in our notepad for easier referencing, and so you don't lose track of any obligations you have committed yourself to. Good luck in your many activities this coming month. |

Comments from the last newsletter I edited:
Smiling Jack Hey! I didn't know you could do that. Thanks for the tip. I'll use it.
NaNoNette Explaining Review Credits was a great idea! Much like you, I send out GPs through this system for all public reviews over 250 characters that I receive. In a separate email, I send thanks and let the reviewer know which parts of their review helped me to grow as a writer, and I also say it if I think a particular piece of advice doesn't ring true to me. But I am always open to understand that each of us is going to read a piece differently and a constructive critique is always better than a hollow pat on the back.
Thank you for featuring my raffle "Invalid Item"
Diane I love all of your wonderful suggestions for recognizing a terrific reviewer! Even long time members forget that we have so many options beyond responding to the review with thanks and gift points.
Rixfarmgirl Wow! I have been here for 5 years, I think, and had no clue about the review points. Thanks for that! |
