Rising stars is a group program set up to identify and encourage talented new writers here on WDC. They seek to achieve this through member-to-member reviewing, activities and contests that support a love of writing and the desire of writers to share their creativity and imagination. Through the support of "Invalid Item" contest, they hope to be able to find more members eager to join the team.
This contest is unique in the way that it is open to newer members of the site only. You can enter this contest as long as your membership is of two years or less. This was set up in order to help find members who may be interested in joining the "Retired Founder, Rising Stars Program" . Entering the contests allows for a chance to be honored as a Rising Stars Emerging Poet and selected for sponsorship in the "Retired Founder, Rising Stars Program" , a fantastic group whose focus is to actively seek out and mentor exceptional writers here on WDC.
Create a poem of either free-style or traditional format and enter for your chance to win one of three great prizes. The prizes distributed are based on a minimum of entrants. Must have a minimum of five entries to judge for a 1st place prize. Must have a minimum of 10 entries to judge for all three prizes. The first prize is a 25k awardicon with GPs. The contest will run from the first through the twentieth of each month.
With bright images and great prizes, this contest welcomes newcomers to enter with a chance to win some great prizes. There is a limited numbers of entries allowed each round, to help give the judges time to go over every entry in a timely manner. Each entry will have at least one review. So not only does entering allow you to vie for a prize, but you gain exposure through reviews as well. If these are put on the public review page, that is additional exposure for your writing.
If you do not meet the qualifications to enter this contest, but know someone who does, please pass this link on to them..."Invalid Item"

allordeThis newsletter is informative and educative, I think it has served its purpose the most, keep editing and publishing.
NaNoNette Thank you for featuring "Invalid Item"
I think a monthly contest run via the newsletter would be fun. If you did, you should link to the entries, at least to the winning entries at the bottom of the newsletter in the ask & answer section so that the winners get that additional exposure. Ideally, the contest would switch up genres and switch between short stories and poetry. You could also run a monthly contest based on the creation of contest/activity forum pages, in & outs, surverys, etc. |
