Letter from the editor

It's a new year and many people make resolutions for what they want to change in their life for the upcoming months. We make resolutions for everything in our lives from wanting to exercise more, get out of the house more often or try to read one more book a month than you do now. Some of you probably even made resolutions to write more, review more, or even run a new contest or activity. That is exactly what I would love to hear that everyone made as a resolution!

How can you resolve to be more active on WDC?

*Starr* Enter a contest or two a month.
*Staro* Join in the fun of an activity or host one!
*Star* Send out some reviews to members or reward some reviewers.
*Starg* Join a group and become an active member.
*Starb* Participate in discussions in "Writing.Com General DiscussionOpen in new Window. or visit Scroll or the Chatroom.
*Starv* Put yourself into the WDC community and help make it a brighter place.

Writing.Com is a social website, it thrives on the activity of its members to keep the community going. By doing just one of these that you don't already do, it will make the whole community brighter. This year I would like to be even more active here and I challenge you to make it a resolution to do the same!

Ask & Answer

My question for you this time: What do you resolve to do this year around WDC?

Question from before: If you host a contest, how do you decide on the prompts?

Elle - on hiatus Author Icon replied: You asked how we choose a prompt. For "Roots & Wings ContestOpen in new Window., we were trying to cover some of the points you mentioned in your newsletter:
         - Keep it a bit open (we went one step further and have an 'open prompt' so anything goes).
         - Have more than one possible prompt choice (we have two prompts we hope will inspire, plus the open one).
         - Don't use a prompt you wouldn't want to write for yourself (the story of my grandfathers' exploits in WWII is something that I really want to write up as a story rather than a factual account).
We're also happy to take suggestions for prompts at the "Roots & Wings Discussion ForumOpen in new Window.. *Smile*
