About This Newsletter

I try to bring the audience's own drama - tears and laughter they know about - to them.

Letter from the editor

We don't invest much time in thinking about real drama and what it does to our writing. The matter of the fact is that nothing flows smoothly and every now and then we deal with things that seem normal, but in reality, it is exactly that. Drama.

How many times have you read a story, especially anything leaning toward romance that doesn't involve any drama? She talks to much, he has his own ideas, and in the end, the main characters clash, before they can reach their happy ending. Life isn't much different. I could point you in the direction of chaos right now! *Laugh*

Whether or not you're thinking outside the box, we are surrounded by things which are beyond our control. The best we can do is deal with them. Anything that has an emotional effect on you could be considered to fit this genre. Personally, I avoid it as much as I can. However, if it's writing related, I love to get my hands on any little moment or word that could create that suspense moment. Friction! It's the best kind.

One thing that should be avoided, would be to drag it out. Some characters tend to go overboard and their personalities become those of real drama-queens. A whiny personality can only take them so far before it becomes really annoying. Keep them a bit more levelheaded. Then again, I lean more toward the steady rather than the dramatic.

But! Since I'm not your regular editor for this newsletter, I'd love to read items specifically written in this genre. Anything you think might expand my personal knowledge on this subject, I'd love to see it, perhaps even review it!

Thanks for having me here!
