Many of us are in the process of creating characters for our NaNoWriMo novels this month. Each one of us has a different method of creating the protagonist and antagonist for our novels. The one thing most of these characters have in common is intelligence. Did you know that there are several different types of intelligence? According to Howard Gardner there are nine types of intelligences.
In The Nine Types of Intelligence http://skyview.vansd.org/lschmidt/Projects/The%20Nine%20Types%20of%20Intelligenc... Howard Gardner list these as
Naturalistic
Musical
Logical-Mathematical
Existential
Interpersonal
Bodily-Kinesthetic
Linguistic
Intra-personal
Spatial
Have you considered using these types of intelligence when creating a character? I did not consider using them until this year, but I think describing a character, especially a protagonist, using the different intelligent categories would be a good exercise. I know that it would help me understand my character better. What do you think? Have you ever used these in creating a character? Can you apply any of these intelligence types to your characters?

Excerpt: Luke was the happiest he'd been in a long time. With his bow and quiver strung across his back, he literally bounced home. The 16 year old was 5 foot 6, with piercing blue eyes, wild brown hair, a wiry build and an extreme talent for archery. The reason for his happiness was his qualification in the national archery tournament. It had always been his dream to enter the nationals. This was a big event for him, especially since he was not from a very high class family.
Excerpt: 'Kitty Corner' was not the most classy strip club in town; in fact it was not even close. But then it wasn’t aimed at the classiest of patrons either so that didn't hurt.

Submissions from our readers
Excerpt: Ever since you could remember, you enjoyed reading the “Tales of Redwall” series. You loved reading about those heroic mice, and their friends, as they fought against those villainous rats, and their ilk. You cheered the heroes, Martin, Gonff, Matthias, and the other brave ones. You booed the villains, Badrang, Cluny, Slagar, and the other evil doers. You wailed at the deaths of Rose, Father Mortimer, and the others who gave their lives to protect the good people. Then, you were saddened to hear about the death of the Author and creator, Brian Jacques, just as his last book was published.
