What We Do For Love

My mother told me about a dinner she served my father shortly after they were married. She wanted to make it special (i.e. fancy) so she included Beans Almandine. * For those who don’t know, that’s fancy for beans with slivered almonds. *

My father is a country boy through and through, so Beans Almandine were as foreign to him as a Falafel wagon. When he saw those freaky flakes of nut floating in some perfectly good green beans he made a face and demanded to know what the heck he was about to eat.

Mom didn’t want to cry but tears leaked out no matter how she tried to hold them back.

One look at her face and my father ate every single thing off his plate as quickly as he could; as if by doing that he could eat the words that were hurting the one he loved.

What does this have to do with writing romance?

Remember the little things we do for love as well as the big things. They both matter!

Hey, Red!
Great newsletter. First dates are always so awkward.

This may sound horrible, but I picked up this newsletter hoping for a brief moment in which to forget my current boy problems, but instead came to this now famous conclusion. Boys are just not worth it (until you find the right one).

I meant to write in sooner, but I wanted to say, I really enjoyed the newsletter this time around and I loved your "Editor's Choices"
