Writer's Block
Alright, I'm going to admit something here - I haven't written anything new (poetry, short story, any fiction at all, really) in a VERY long time. All of you diligently adding new things to your portfolio all the time? I'm totally jealous of you. How do you do it?
Some ideas to get motivated to write:
Prompts - This is how I got writing in the first place. My sister, hubby and I would take turns giving prompts to see what we could come up with. I think prompts can really help to inspire writing when you feel writer's block creeping in.
Word Sprints - Give yourself a time limit, and just start writing. It could be anything, just let it flow out of you! It might inspire something great!
Word Wars - Find a partner (or a group), set a time limit, and see who can write the most!
So a lot of these ideas may not inspire the best writing, but the idea is to just get the pen flowing, you know? Just the feeling of writing may spark a continuation of writing, and that's the ultimate goal. Of course, there is one more option:
Give up. Okay, not the best suggestion, but sometimes the best idea might be to take a break. Maybe you need it. Get involved in hosting or participating in contests & activities by contributing to them by judging or offering reviews! There are lots of ways to stay connected to the writing world, even if you may not be writing at the time.
But seriously, if anyone has some really great advice for writer's block, please let me know!

My last newsletter, ("Contests & Activities Newsletter (December 24, 2014)" ), discussed keeping on track toward your dreams.
I'm both a fitness nut and a hopeful author, so handling my time effectively is really hard. While my major dream is getting published, I also want to race a 5k, do a handstand, and learn how to cook cheap, healthy(yet delicious!) food.
I've found that the best thing to do is remind myself I HAVE time. Right now, I'm trying to knock out as many distracting things in my life as I can so I can take one more step along the individual paths to my goals each day.

Sounds like awesome advice!
