What? What is that?

This newsletter covers fetishes, so if you're squeamish or sensitive...feel free to stop here. If you're curious, read on. I decided to touch lightly on this subject because a lot of interactives that involve fetishes use action/adventure as a genre. Unless you click to include certain keywords on your search parameter, you may never see these items in your listings. And as a moderator, I think that's fair. We protect readers from topics they might consider offensive when searching for a simple thing like a story to read. I know I don't want anyone underage getting an education from a fantasy writing and getting their birds and bees thoroughly confused. (The feathered ones are birds, fyi).

But if you're a little curious and a bit adventurous, peek into the world of interactive stories and perhaps check out one of the higher rated items that might include a fetish. I remember reading Gullivers Travels and wondering what it would be like to be tiny. While Swift built a gigantic world, I could imagine being a tiny person in my own world. Giantess stories have been around since even Norse mythology, with Gerd, Skaði, Hyrrokin and Thokk. Another topic is baby stories; these deal with the feelings of babies, being cuddled and diapered. Some go further to diaper changes.

Another subject is transformation. This can be human transforming to anything you can imagine, partially or completely. We've all seen werewolf stories, right? These just take it a bit further. Again, these have been around forever, remember the minotaur? While I'm not trying to push fetish on you in this newsletter, all I ask is to keep open-minded and tolerant about other writer's creations. If you don't like their genre and you've committed to reviewing something, comment on the plot line, the characters or world building. And who knows, you might get a fun idea to write something yourself. As always, Write On!

Excerpt: My thoughts turned away from death to a much more pleasant topic, Angie. Angie was a relatively new coworker. She had been at the office almost two months, and was easily the most popular person at work. Part of the reason was her intelligence and her efficiency in job performance. That was ten percent of it. The big reason, the ninety percent reason, was she had the body and face of a goddess. Strawberry red hair, natural, not dyed, emerald green eyes, and curves that if on a highway would kill. She became the object of my fondest dreams the first day I saw her. I’m certain I became the object of her worst nightmare the first day she saw me.

Excerpt: He ambled over to the bull chutes and began preparing. He watched as Cooper Davis nodded and the gate swung back. Cooper had Air Time. Its unridden streak as well as its short fuse and unpredictable style had made it the bull nobody wanted.

Coop lasted 2.4 seconds.

Excerpt: The island stood solitary, uninhabited as Jantar and the rest of the hunting party beached their skin boats. A glance back across the expanse of water showed no trace of his village, only the endless waves of the lake they called Gamshe. Climbing over the edge of the craft, he shivered when the water lapped about his feet and ankles. He drew in a deep breath, held it, relished the salt-brined air as it tingled the back of his throat. With dove-like eyes, a grin growing on his bronzed face, he gazed about the unfamiliar land. His First Hunt! He raced across the sand toward the dense forest.

Excerpt: I woke at 2 am. This was an unconventional time for me to rise, but the best time to make the final ascent. As I dressed for the cool weather, my guide described the rest of the walk up the mountain. Thousands of people make this trip every year. For tourists, it’s another step in the once-in-a-lifetime trip to this magical island. For locals, this mountain, Gunung Kinabalu, The Chinese Widow, is a pilgrimage site; the climb, a sacred ritual.

When he awakens, Kirby will find himself immobile as a piece of gum (or food)! Then, he will be chewed (or eaten) by an unaware Nintendo gal.

Excerpt: A shy high-school boy, Blake, struggles to impress girls. So, he makes a deal with spirits to gain the five-day ability to withstand almost any type of harm, hoping that toughness will do better for him than smarts alone.

The catch? Blake has also been shrunk to half an inch in size! Will his bargain win him a girl's heart, or will it be his undoing?

This month's question: Have you found a topic that piqued your curiosity on WDC?
How did that influence your writing?

Answer below *Down* Editors love feedback! *Heart*

Last month's question: Do you ever get stuck describing something you know nothing about?
How do you accomplish it in your writing?

GaelicQueen Author Icon responded: I love search engines. When writing a scene which the main character is a police officer sending a status report by radio, I refer to a list of radio call codes. If another character is doing a preliminary, emergency autopsy, I refer to articles from the internet to help me fill in the needed information to make the scene work.

Quick-Quill Author Icon replied: Research is Key. When I decided I wanted to have the husband of my MC die of TB i had to find a sanitorium in the area I wanted my setting then read about the treatment and how things were handled in 1948. I love to research. I love to learn about things I never knew before. If I could have the perfect job it would be doing research for an author. I love old files, old diaries and spending hours in the library or on Ancestry.com researching a family history.

Monty Author Icon sent: No longer for me. I write only poetry about things I know about, I get caught on this when reviewing at times.
