About This Newsletter

Newsletters in general provide some great reading, both from the selected links to Writing.Com members' items and from the informative help and advice given in the editorials. The Contest Newsletter is your portal to understanding the mechanics involved with the contests. Even though some of the links may have become invalid, previous editions of each newsletter still provide useful tips and advice that you might have forgotten. Take a search through them whenever you get a chance. You might find the exact information or incentive you need to go forward with an idea you've had or write an entry you've been thinking about.

A NEW YEAR BEGINS

HELLO and WELCOME!

It's that time again. Another year is coming to a close. This means that a new list of resolutions is being mulled over in hopes of making improvements and reaching goals during the many days ahead. If your list is anything like mine, there are at least a couple of resolutions that have been carried over to it from January 2005's list - a fact that makes me realize there are still goals that I haven't met, dreams that haven't been fulfilled and dragons that haven't been defeated yet. But then, that's what a new year represents...a refocusing of energies and renewed fortitude to begin again.

What are your New Year resolutions? Mine include a few writing and crafting goals, the ever-popular losing of a few pounds, and the equally-ever-popular becoming a "better" person (generally speaking). The resolutions that most seek after include: getting a better job, quitting smoking, saving more money, following a more healthy lifestyle, and spending more time with family.

No matter what your resolutions are, you can weave them into your Writing.Com experience by finding a group that shares information, advice and support with whatever your goal happens to be. Or by forming the group if none already exists. You can also find or start an activity for nearly any project, hobby or interest you have. A little sharing and support goes a long way. It supplies incentive to follow through with things. It gives inspiration and ideas you might not have thought of before. It also helps to boost your confidence (something we could all use more of on those days when nothing seems to be going right).

Good luck with your 2006 resolutions! Hopefully, with a little help, effort and perseverance, none of them will end up on our 2007 list. *Smile*

Here is an assortment of fun, inspiration and support from a few of the newer W.C. groups:
