Achievement is not always success, while reputed failure often is. It is honest endeavor, persistent effort to do the best possible under any and all circumstances.
~ Orison Swett Marden
I know of no more encouraging fact than the unquestionable ability of man to elevate his life by conscious endeavor.

One month into the new year. What have you accomplished? Have you gotten any writing done? Have you found more inspiration by running a contest yourself?
There will be times throughout this year, any year really, where you won't feel inspired to write. Stress at home, at work, any type of worry, can sidetrack you from what you really want to do. We all know are deepest and darkest secret, our big dream, is to write that one story worth publishing. That might take time.
In the meantime, what are you planning to do? Where are you going to find your inspiration to accomplish what you want?
Your best bet is here. On this website. When you can't write, read. Then read some more. Look at the various contests and activities this site has to offer. Perhaps you might enter one or two, perhaps you won't. The prompt itself can be intriguing enough to write something anyway. Doesn't mean you have to enter the contest itself. Your imagination tends to take a longer route than what the contest will allow. Don't let that stop you from writing.
Many times, I've seen people write down an inspirational prompt somewhere in their port just to come back to it at a later date. For some, it works, for others it doesn't. Create an item which will keep you on track. If you have written a Dear Me letter for this past month's official contest, don't disregard it. For my own pleasure and convenience I went ahead and created "Invalid Item" after I wrote my own contest entry.
It doesn't matter whether or not I'll finish all the items I've listed on it. It doesn't matter to anyone but me. Throughout the year I'll look for inspiration, change items on that list if necessary, perhaps add to it. Who knows? One thing it will do for me this year is, it'll keep me on track. When I don't feel inspired to write, perhaps I can review, dabble in something entirely different. Read a book or fifty - something I could and should add to my plan for this year.
Are you able to organize yourself enough to follow through and set up your personal endeavor?
'Til next time!
~ Gaby
