A Gift of Intimacy

Sure, it was a mad mind scramble for a gift but in the end it was the best thing he could have given me.

My husband insists that he doesn't know what to get me for gifts (even though I collect music boxes, write and have photography and scrap booking for hobbies) and then when gift giving occurs and he is the only adult opening presents, which doesn’t really bother me but he feels pretty bad. This year for Christmas, the same thing happened, with one exception. Our kids are getting older and kept asking him what he was going to get me and he'd put them off. When Christmas morning rolled around, they looked at him expectantly and he escaped to the kitchen on some mystical errand.

When he returned to the living room he proudly announced that for Christmas he had scheduled me for two massages from the Salon de Dwadoo. That was husband-ese for I was getting a couple of rubdowns for Christmas.

I went into the whole thing with trepidation but came out a new woman. He was no expert but the simple act of touching and quiet talking brought a gentle intimacy that we haven’t found in any other way. It wasn’t sexual (in fact it didn’t lead to sex, it was finished off with a cuddle but was still fulfilling to both of us) – it was sensual and loving.

Think of gifting a massage to your loved one and revel in the extra intimacy you can bring to a relationship. There are several books out there on the art of massage, if you feel you need a guide (try a search on Amazon or Google), but truly all you need are your hands and your heart.

Ah, the hunt for the perfect gift. I am with you on that one, Red. I derive so much pleasure from the gift and watch avidly when the person opens so I won't miss their expression. May your Christmas be bright and your gifts as carefully chosen for you as the ones you choose for others. Puditat *Heart*

And this has WHAT to do with Romance/Love again? Really, if I wanted to hear about your holiday travails, I'd go hunt down your blog. Every newsletter editor and their grandmother is writing about Christmas (which is still weeks away).

I'm sorry you were disappointed, John. I was hoping to express love and family at Christmastime and I'm sorry I didn't succeed in that for you. Thank you for pointing it out, though, as I strive to do my best in any endeavor - including this newsletter *Smile*

Hi Red Riding Hood,

Snap, I love the Christmas gifts too. Giving them more than receiving them. Just think whenever I'm travelling I always pick up interesting pieces which I then save for Christmas. That sure saves me from hunting around amongst 'The maddening crowd' at the last minute.
Great NL as always, take care and have a marvellous, serene and peaceful Christmas. Speak soon AuntyNelly *Heart*
