Spirituality, to me, has many levels. It's not just about having faith or believing in something. There are so many layers to it which you can peel off until you get to the center of it. We all believe in something, doesn't matter what that is. We all hope for the best and hope that things will change. A spiritual person does more than that and has more than that.
I've always loved hearing how other parts of the world live and learning about their personal faith and where they think it'll take them. We are more than one belief and neither one is wrong. If, like they say, united we stand, divided we fall, that doesn't count for a single country. It counts for the world.
When I look at the place where I was born, then look at the other two places where I was raised, I not only see the difference, I feel it. People, when it's the hardest, cling to their faith and hope, no matter where they are. But there are differences. It depends how you've been raised, what you've been thought. Children aren't born bad, they surroundings change their attitudes.
If there is one powerful message in life, it's the one which tells you that you don't know what's going on in someone's life. You don't know what they had to deal with in order to be where they are right now. Their race, color, or nationality doesn't matter. We are all of the same cloth. Don't judge and you won't be judged. Many of us have a hard time opening up, speaking the words, may not be able to write them either. It takes a lot of courage to mend what's broken.
Because of that, remember that a single word, a tiny gesture, a smile on your face may change the direction of another person's life. Even when you are feeling down and in pain and whatever else might be going on in your life, you aren't alone. Smiling at someone who'll smile back may help you and unknowingly you might have helped them as well.
'Til next time!
