About This Newsletter

*Quill* *Delight* Hi everyone! I am back as a guest editor. I hear echoes of spring in the air as muses gather for the April Poetry Fair: National Poetry Month. Yep, NaPoWriMo is coming for its 15th year! *Shock* So let's ponder on how we poets can prepare!

“When the lyrical muse sings the creative pen dances.”
― Aberjhani,

"Poetry is an act of peace". – Pablo Neruda

"Poetry is an echo, asking a shadow to dance." – Carl Sandburg

"Poetry is like a bird, it ignores all frontiers." – Yevgeny Yevtushenko

*Quill* What dance will you create beyond your old frontiers as you fly free into Napowrimo in April? *Bird*

Letter from the editor

*Lightning2* Sharpen your quills and your skills, feed your muse well and get ready! NapoWriMo is just around the corner. Yes! April will be the time of celebrating poetry across the nation--30 poems in 30 days, one a day! *Delight*

I am spring cleaning the cobwebs from my mind early and calling forth inspiration! How about you?

Here are a few ideas to prepare your mind and heart...and set a routine. (if you do not have one, I tend to be all over the place when writing. *Laugh*

*Fairy* How about some daily free writes to engage with the space within? It is one of my favourite activities. Let your pen scroll across the page for 10 to 20 minutes uninterrupted, allowing all or nothing to flow out. I even scribble so resistence is futile. Be free and don't critique! *Wink* At a later time you can go back and capture any idea, word, image that pops out as appealing and use it to begin or continue a poem. Play time as you build a muscle for a daily habit. Flaunt your gift!

*Bookstack2* Expand your horizons and be inspired by reading poetry of all kinds and forms. You can learn a lot and dream!
You can even participate right here at WDC and read or share the treasures other poets have found.

"A wonderful article about a wonderful author. I really enjoy writing children's stuff (although, that was not my plan when I started writing), and Shel is someone I will certainly be studying.

Thanks for including my piece in the newsletter."

"One of my favorite groups was 'Dr. Hook'. Shel wrote many of their songs. The lyrics for those songs are fantastic if you listen to them. Thank you for featuring him, he was a great man!
