On Writing Again
I've been writing again!
It took some coaxing but yeah, it's all coming back, like riding a bicycle. The best part is that my ideas are still intact. I started writing this because it felt and read like a good opening and it was mysterious enough to hook the reader to want to know more. I know it's not much, but here, I'll share it with you.
People have secrets. Some are even willing to kill to keep them that way. My sweet Bethnea's secret was so horrible that it would destroy anyone who discovered it. I believe now, that the only reason Bethnea didn't die when she stumbled upon it, was because she was a woman, and it was a woman her secret desired most of all.
I remember the first time I followed her into the mountains, it was late and the sun, as orange as a dragon's egg, cracked on the western peaks and spilled a crimson yolk. Against this fiery backlight, the mountains wore King's gold for a while, then gradually took off their shining crowns and drew royal-blue nightclothes up their slopes. Bethnea followed a twisted path up the hill, her dark cloak flapping behind her like an owl that has settled upon its prey. She moved quickly but every so often would stop and turn, then stare down the hill checking to see if she was being followed. Did she know I was there? Was she leading me purposefully to my doom?
Until we meet again,

DEAD LETTERS
Warped Sanity
Thanks for the giggles! Ok, so maybe I have a warped sense of humor, but that opening which compared your excitement with watching children fall is funny. I haven't been here as long as you, but I agree, the wonderful writing friendships developed here make this place addicting.

I'm right there with you. I joined 11 years ago in August and I can't begin to thank the people who have helped me along the way. They have critiqued and edited as well as guided me to classes I needed to take. Someone gifted me a three month subscription mot long after I joined. I've never let it lapse since. I'm a published author, I owe it all to Wdc. (501) are included.

I am more than a bit confused about how stories.com has anything to do with writing. I went to the website, but found it to be a clothing/ fashion store. Nothing about writing, or stories, at all.
You didn't have to go searching for Stories.com because you were already there. Before there was a Writing.com it was called Stories.com. Of course that was some time ago but gradually they changed the name to what you see now. I still can't figure out why they did that.
