Review! Your writing depends on it!
Reviews are an integral part to our activities here on Writing.Com. And if you think that reviews only benefit the person who received the review, you need to rethink your perception.
Any review you write makes you write.
Any review you write makes you read.
Any review you write can increase your vocabulary.
Any review you write can help you identify and understand rules of grammar.
Any review you write can help you identify and understand rules of punctuation.
Is there a downside to reviewing? The answer is a simple: no.
Even if the person you reviewed neglects to get back to you, you still interacted with a piece of writing. Ideally, you should acknowledge any review you receive and get a reply to any review you wrote. Even if it's weeks, months, even years later. Do thank a reviewer!
And don't forget that reviews can not only yield a reply, some gift points, and other learning effects. You might even receive cash rewards!

A little bit of self-promotion. Have a look at "Note: Has 2019 really left the station and you are ..."
"I Write in 2019" is a year-long writing/reviewing activity that is designed to increase the participation in contests all around the site.
Although half the year is up, I want to offer anyone who dares to, to jump in now. In order to earn the special 2019 merit badge, you will have to have 52 complete entries by December 31st, 2019 - but I think that can still be achieved if you write 2 entries per week + 3 entries in a few weeks.
Have a look and email me with questions.
For my last Contests & Activities newsletter "Summer Writing Fun" , I received the following reply:
Mary Ann MCPhedran wrote: I like to use my gift points for giving donations and merit badges to members on the site, and occasionally I run out of GPS and I buy them. I also use money for renewing my membership.
Thank you for your reply. I hope you make good use of the free merit badge you can send every 30 days. |
