My birthday is Wednesday, April 5. So the day you get this newsletter will probably be my birthday. I'm turning 26, but let's pretend that I'm never getting older than 25.
It being my birthday, I figured I'd list 25 (+ 1) different kinds of contests and activities for this newsletter, in hopes of inspiring one of you to try something new with your next contest!
1. Prompt contest (writing using a group of words)
2. Free writing contest (post an item, any item)
3. Reviewing contest (review so many items to win a prize)
4. Port raid contest (review multiple items by multiple authors)
5. Scavenger hunt (find various items in portfolios around the site)
6. Topic contest (write about a certain subject)
7. Holiday contest (use a holiday as your inspiration)
8. Round contest (participate in several rounds in order to win)
9. Poetry contest (write a poem or multiple poems)
10. Bad poetry contest (write a purposefully bad poem)
11. Horror/Scary contest (write a scary story or poem)
12. Mystery contest (write a mystery story or poem)
13. Comedy contest (write a comedic story or poem)
14. Erotic contest (write an erotica story or poem)
15. Fantasy contest (write a fantasy story or poem)
16. Action/Adventure contest (write an action/adventure story or poem)
17. Lottery/Raffle (buy some numbers and win some GPs if you're lucky)
18. Auction (get into a bidding war to win an item)
19. Signature contest (create a signature to win)
20. Journaling contest (enter your journal or blog)
21. Short story contest (post a short story - any short story)
22. Flash Fiction contest (post a really short story)
23. Daily contest (something new to try everyday)
24. Weekly contest (something new to try every week)
25. Monthly contest (something new to try every month)
+1. Annual contest (something new to try every year)
Now here's where the fun part comes in, if you've made it this far, because I didn't list those contest types for informational purposes only. Since it's my birthday, I figured I'd make a little contest out of the Contest & Activities newsletter.
The first three people to send me an example of each of the contests/activities I listed will win a merit badge, and I'll post your name in my next newsletter. So get to hunting!
Be sure the check out the Editor's picks. You might find something to assist your list!
