Monsters in Love

Did you ever meet a monster that didn't crave love?

Mary Shelley knew in 1823 that even something puzzled together from several people and turned alive by electricity and mad science would ultimately crave first acceptance and then love. Frankenstein's monster, as scary looking and monstrous as he is, is a deeply romantic character.

Carmilla, a lesbian vampire from 1872, written by Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu, expressed romantic desires toward the protagonist. Carmilla had to be a monster because being lesbian wasn't socially accepted.

As you can see in my editor's picks below, the topic of monsters combined with Romance & Love is something that many writers try to combine in to stories and poems.

Since it's October, the month of all things spooky, scary, and sometimes gory - how about you write something that fits a monster and romance together?
