America's Tallest Flagpole Aug 06 2017 at 4:05pm EDT Erected by the Acuity Insurance Co. Almost 100 feet taller than the Statue of Liberty. The 400-foot-tall flagpole weighs approximately 420,000 pounds. It flies two versions of a 60x120-foot American flag, one weighing 220 pounds during nice weather, another weighing 350 pounds during harsh weather. Each star is three feet high and each stripe is 4.5 feet wide. 680 cubic yards of concrete were used to anchor the pole, which is covered in over 500 gallons of paint. Three pendulum-style tuned mass dampers reduce movement and vibration, and the pole is designed to withstand temperatures as low as -42 degrees Fahrenheit. There is a memorial at the base of the flagpole.
