being born after another sipling has departed
I wonder what it's like,
growing in the shadow of someone whose life
was like a streak of lightning.
So, intense, so bright,
and then the blackness of night.
So fast, so strong, their memory assuredly lives on.
But you came after the lightning strike!
You came after the darkening side of night!
Through the years, you've grown,
under the shadow of the tombstone.
I wonder, what's that like?
Do you feel the bright of day, or shy away?
Deliberately lost, openly hid, and wondering
all the should, could, and would of been.
Blending a mirror image that reflects and reminds,
the lightning left a shadow behind.

For all those who have grown,
in the shadow of the tombstone.
I wonder, if you know how radiantly you glow?
In the brightest of nights, in darkest of days.
