Walking through it's remains
As fog and smoke surround me
The safety of it's walls now gone
My flags lay silent
My wounds too severe to rebuild
I sit on a broken stone and ponder
How this battle has aged me
How she found it's weakness
Slowly the fog lifts
The smoke begins to clear
From a dense forest I catch a glimpse
Of a lone rider on a tired horse
He rides to my side and catches his breath
Without a word he hands me a letter
The pain of his journey written on his face
I sense the urgency of his task
I unroll the worn parchment
It's ink well worn but the message clear
This castle needs to rise again
For those who need it's refuge
Stone by stone my fortress rises
My heart warmed by those who helped
An open passage keeps it safe now
My flags fly high once again
