Edward tries to understand the meaning of his fathers signs. |
Edward looked around. He looked for something to push his mind off what had just happened and focus on a total different subject. Then he saw his fathers desk. He checked behind himself just incase someone charged in and accused him. When all was clear he walked over to his desk. He stood behind it looking down at all the papers. If he just stumbled in here without no note of his father he would of put in account something similar as his father was the messy one in the family. He looked through the papers boring old stuff about war tatics and weapon posistions. He looked on the right of the desk where everything was well not perfect but more neat than the paper infested left side of the desk. The he saw a photo. All he saw was four figures standing.he peered closer and first saw the tallest was his father. With his arm around his mother. Then edward with the smallest smile. And infront of him tommy with a huge grin on his face. Edward paused and took in the picture. He tried to think about the memories that he had. But they were easier when you wern't in a place surrounded with pain and death and of course, war. Edward waited for the emotions to start pouring in. But they never came. Edward was thankfu, but dissapointed about that. He was ever so thankful because he knew sadness would be one of the first and he had had enough of that. But he was dissapointed because happiness would be one of the last and that would be one of the emotions he would savour and try to keep alive as if it was an injured animal. "Have you had enough snooping?" came a voice. Edward looked up to see his father standing there. At first Edward thought he had no emotion drawn on his face. Then he walked from the desk and a few steps away from him. He looked again. There in his eyes was an emotion, whether it was pain, misery or sorrow Edward wasn't sure. Edward tore away from his father's eyes and looked at the ground. It was unconfertable for him. His father sighed looked in all directions But avoiding eye contact with his supposedly hated son. "Get out soilder" he finally said. Edward looked at him. He could tell his father was holding back emotions whether that was to hug him or to shout abuse at him he didn't know. He walked out leaving deathly silence to grasp the wished to be forgotten moment. Edward bit his lip. Resisting to go back in there and try to get an answer out of his father. All he did was sigh. Yes a sad sigh filled with general sadness, but a sigh none the less. |
