I said once, my heart had walls,
which none could scale.
I am guarded, few tried, all failed.
Then a brave knight searched,
till he found a forgotten door.
He entered swiftly and captured the very core.
I fought this knight as best I could.
Knowing all along, win he would.
I tried to slow the capture of my heart.
this had never happened, I didn't know how to start.
His conquest was thorough,
his capture complete.
I lay in total surrender at his feet.
The challenge was all he wanted,
For he mounted his horse and rode away.
Leaving the carnage of my heart where it lay.
Leaving a longing that will always stay.
The knight rode into the sunset leaving my heart to die.
Now I rebuild though tears stain my eyes.
My walls will be stronger,
there will be no forgotten doors!
This fortress will be conquered never more!
No knight shall enter, all shall flee,
I'll freely give no part of me!
So weakened is that which once was so strong.
Still for a shining knight my heart longs.
I will protect my heart , I will survive this yet,
Though I am afraid, I will never forget.
