The Alternate Universe Naruto #1: In the Beginning

Introduction

This is the first edition of the adventures of the Alternate Universe Naruto. All the characters are the same names, but some have quite different personalities, except for Naruto, who has basically the same knuckleheadedness as in the series.You will find that the plot of the entire show in the alternate universe is quite different from the show itself, yet parallels it in many ways. I obviously don't want Cartoon Network or whoever suing me because of way too many similarities, so there will be, as well, significantly different character development. There is no reason why I shouldn't be able to produce at least one of these little guys a month, so if I decide to go on vacation from this for a while, feel free to email me at [e-mail] and tell me to get my rear in gear again. Despite its differences, the story begins the same as the series.

Every Story Must Have a Beginning...

Many a war had been fought over the years between the village of Kanoha and its surrounding rival nations. This one, however, would bring the Nine-Tailed Fox out into the conflict, bringing a devistating blow to Kanoha. But there was yet hope.

The Nine-Tailed Fox needed to be taken care of, yet no one knew what to do.

Eventually, the village council decided that they would attempt to capture the Nine-Tailed Fox and seal him with a jutsu, inside of a newborn baby. Thus, they decided to bring this new power into the tiny baby, Naruto. He was dispised, even by his own mother, who was killed shortly after the birth of the boy. Alas, his father had died in the great war before he could see his son see the light of day. The bastardized child would walk alone in grief at first, but there was yet hope...

The war was over, but it had taken it's toll on konoha.

He decided that he would become a ninja so the people would look up to and respect him. He had no real friends, but when he joined the ninja academy, he would find them soon enough.

Later, at the age of twelve, he made his first attempt at becoming a genin, by taking the graduation exam. He failed, and he failed again, and again, and yet again, but on his last attempt...

{size 4}Chapter 1: The Ninja Academy Final Exam: I Will Succeed!

Naruto loaved around with his five fellow shinobi-to-be, Sakura, Sasuke, Choji, Shikamaru, and Ino. His teacher, Iruka was watching each future shinobi as they took the final test: the transformation jutsu. Finally, it was his turn. "Oh, man, I always fail this one! why is this time gonna be any different?" The thought echoed in his mind as if they were in a giant cavern. "Okay, here it goes!" He transformed into Iruka like the rest of them, but he never could get the facial features right in the jutsu, and this failed him, yet again.

Meanwhile, in the Hokage's office in the lookout tower, an unsuspecting Naruto was being watched in anticipation (though not good anticipation), by more than just Iruka and his classmates. After failing, the Hokage, watching though a seeing orb and getting quite annoyed very quickly, stated, "Ughhhhhh. That boy. He's never going to pass like this! He needs motivation! But he is indeed the boy sealed with  Kyubi, the Nine-Tailed Fox, inside of him, and I believe it is time to graduate this boy."

Out of nowhere, a puff of smoke was created and Iruka appeared. "You sent for me?"

"Yes. This is about Naruto. He keeps failing the final exam, and he has so much potential in him..."

"He is the one who was sealed with the Nine-Tailed Fox inside of him, was he not?"

"Yes. But for some reason, he hasn't been able to pass yet, and he clearly needs to be passed, so we can find out for ourselves the full potential of the Nine-Tailed Fox's awesome power inside of him."

"Do you absolutely think that's necessary? After all, we haven't passed someone like that, ever! But you know as well as I do that he's not quite ready to be on that level."

"Oh? I believe he is. I think that one single detail shouldn't stop him. I sense much potential in the boy, and he'll master that jutsu in no time. All he needs is the push out the door to become motivated. I'm sure he's sick of being laughed at and criticized by you and your ,students. Everything else he has mastered completely."

"Well, if you believe it's best."

"Ultimately, as his teacher, it's your decision whether to pass him or not. But I strongly reccomend we do, for the boy's sake."

"Well, then, who am I to argue with the Hokage?"

"You will pass him then?"

"Yes, you've convinced me. I guess he'll be better off for it." Iruka hesitated before he spoke again. "I've been starting to wonder what the boy's been up to in his spare time, but it can't be any good." He looked toward the Hokage faces on the nearby mountain and was startled by what he saw. He couldn't belive his eyes. The faces had green paint all over them!

"What on Earth??!?!?!?" The Hokage was as shocked as Iruka! The faces had been totally defaced! "Who could have done this????? Wait, don't answer that; we both know who."

"He's done it again. I'll return after he's recieved the proper punishment."

"See that you do, but don't come back until you've made him a genin."

"Alright. I've got a bad feeling about this, though."

Iruka moved like a flash searching for him, but couldn't even begin to think of where he might be...

At the same time, other people had noticed, and Naruto was being chased by several Jonin, elite ninjas of the village.

Chapter 2: I passed! I really passed!
