about a man, and a woman, and their short tenure in the palace of love
Soft light. Soft body. Everything a mess. She spoke to me with soft words. And riddles, too. Yes, there were riddles. I remember now. She asked me to be hers. What could I say? She kissed me. I kissed her. Soft lips. Soft body. I said yes, softly. The sun came up. I drove the long drive to her house. She slept under the cover of the sunrise. She awakened to my breath, my kiss. She smiled. I am so happy. We left, and spoke no words on the long drive back. My bed was ours. Our castle, our home. She kissed me. I kissed her. I slept. She read. There was a smile when she looked at me. Oh, that smile. My time to leave. She left, with her friend. I kissed her goodbye. She kissed me, and walked away. One last look and a smile before she entered the car. And that was it. Gone. The sun started to set. An eerie feeling of loss came over the Earth. We talked, we laughed. I drove the long drive home that night, confused, afraid. We talked. And that was it. Gone. It was night now. Emotions flew this way. They flew that way. I am left only alone now, under the cover of the night. The sun may never come up again. But that's ok, I guess. She's somewhere, looking at the same moon, the same star. She's smiling. She's remembering. This is the day, my friends, that the sun went away. It shined for a brief moment in history. But that's ok. The great thing about the sun is that it's always there. It sets. It rises. It lives forever.
