A poem from the point of view of Mary, the mother of Jesus.
I remember sleeping one night,
When suddenly, I was awakened
By a beautiful, blinding light.
And I was violently shaking.

It told me not to be afraid,
That I was favored by God
To be the one to carry His Child.
All I could do was nod.

I asked how, because I knew no man.
He answered God would envelop me,
And I would bear the child
For all the world to see.

I told Joseph I was with child,
And he told me we would not wed.
But an angel told him in a dream
That he would take me to be with him.

As the time grew closer
For me to give birth,
The order was given
To pay taxes on Earth.

We went to the city
Known to us as Bethlehem.
We slept in a manger
Because there was no room at the inn.

It was there I gave birth
To the Heavenly Child,
And shepherds came,
Very meek and mild.

They came to us,
The three Holy men,
Following the star
Leading to Bethlehem.

The king gave a decree
To kill all toddler males,
So we left to Egypt
To escape the fateful wails.

Years went by and we returned
To the town of Nazareth
To raise our family,
And finally get some peace and rest.

We went to the temple
One day to pray,
And left to go home.
Jesus decided to pray and stay.

I frantically searched
For my beloved child,
And finally found Him
Teaching the crowd.

I gathered Him up,
Fearful I’d lost Him.
He told me He was doing
His Father’s every whim.

I cried and stored these things
Deep within my heart,
So I would not forget
These words He imparted.

Finally He left home
To begin His ministry,
And then He was betrayed
And hung upon a tree.

Just before He died, He said,
“Behold, Mother, thy son.”
And I held John
As Jesus went Home.

Jesus ascended into Heaven
To be with God the Father
And instructed us
To spread the water.

The water of Life
We should always share
And remember my Son
And His work shall be done.
