My happy parents met more than forty years ago;
Often, they have fought, many times, toe-to-toe.
My dad and mom listening to each other’s rants –
One person’s “can’s” becoming the other person’s “can’t’s”.
My mom is controlling, emotional and warm,
While Dad is stubborn, and meaning no harm.
But the two of them work out their saintly affairs
For the benefit of family and co-workers’ cares.
One son is gay, and the other won’t marry,
So having grandkids is doubtful, but why should they worry?
Their children have meant so much to their dreams
That simply not yielding is not what it seems.
Headaches, stubbornness, and poor health prevail
For the couple vowing patiently, to each other, not to fail…
But for each breath, I am proud and exclaim with no bother,
“God has blessed me with a world class mother and father!”
