About recovering from an abusive relationship
I forgot how sweet a tear could taste,
The tears of freedom that you took away,
Captured my heart and took my life,
What made you think you had the right,
To destroy someone as beautiful as me,
To destroy all that I could be?
Does it kill you inside now the I've moved on?
Do you realise at last that you were wrong?

But gradually, the bruises begin to fade,
And the scars on my mind will drift away,
I'm no longer alone and chained by you,
I'm no longer living life afraid of you.
And one day you may wake up and see,
Everything you could ever want, you had in me,
But every punch lost you something beautiful,
With every bruise, I knew I could leave it all.
